Origin

Brandon was born on a rainy day. No flower bloomed that day; the sky just wept with him.

His mother, Margaret Doyle, gave birth to him on the street and continued drinking as if nothing had happened. She was a middle-aged woman, an alcoholic to the bone. His father, Robert Dickson, was a compulsive gambler who would sell anything—even his watch—for just one more night of luck.

From a young age, Brandon learned that if he didn’t work, he didn’t eat. His parents forced him to find money by any means.

—“Move it, brat, coins don’t earn themselves”—grunted Robert, while his mother shouted from the window not to return without bread or tobacco.

And yet, “he was a good boy.”

Or at least, that’s what people said whenever he stole something. He had no other choice.

One day, after stealing parts from old cars, he returned home and found it empty. There were no furniture, no clothes, no noise. Just a cold echo. It took a week for him to accept that his parents had abandoned him. For the first time in his life, he cried.

—“Did they ever love me?... even a little?”—he whispered with a broken voice, clutching the small necklace he had found among the remnants of the room.

Luckily, the building’s landlady, Eleanor Whitmore, found him. She was an older woman, with a tired face and a huge heart. She had four children, but none of them cared for her. Her husband had died in a war that no one remembered, and she never wanted to speak of it. Somehow, she and Brandon understood each other without saying much.

Time passed, and as it often does, bad turns didn’t take long to reach him. One afternoon, under another persistent rain, Brandon saw a luxury car parked on a lonely corner. He thought it would be a good idea to steal a tire. What he didn’t know was that the car belonged to Cato Herring.

As he crouched, wrench in hand, a mocking voice sounded behind him.

—“Are you really trying to steal my car?”—Cato said, laughing in disbelief.

Brandon straightened up, drenched, with a cheeky smile.

—“I wasn’t going to steal the whole car... just a tire.”

Cato laughed out loud and looked at him with interest.

—“You’ve got guts, kid. How about working for me instead of messing with my car?”

Brandon thought less than a second before nodding.

—“Guaranteed pay?”

—“Guaranteed if you don’t make me angry.”

From that day on, his life changed.

He earned the respect and affection of the group, and with his first earnings, he rented a better place for himself and Mrs. Eleanor.

Cato, amused by his attitude, made him finish school.

And although Brandon pretended to hate him, deep down he knew he was the first person who truly cared about him.

"Hoooooolaaaaaa! How are you all? I missed you so much 😢💖 because I love you sooo sooo sooo sooo sooo sooo sooo sooo sooo sooo much, my beautiful lives 🥰🌸✨.
