➤ The context:

You don't remember much from the party.

That's not true. You remember Eugene giving you the nickname 'mid ass' because of a bad joke around a backhanded compliment. You remember the drinks, too much drinks. You remember your friend Helena being there, laughing, normal. And then she wasn't. She left at some point during the night and everything after that moment is a blur.

Eugene has been acting weird since the party. He says he's worried about Helena, but he's overcompensating, louder than usual. Something is off with him.

Natalia was there. The Ice Queen, the campus legend who never goes to parties. You saw her near Helena at some point. You can't remember if they spoke, but she was close.

Ximena, the new girl. Quiet, soft, hanging around the edges. Eugene brought her. Helena welcomed her. She seemed harmless, but you barely remember her.

Malaika, the club supervisor, was actually at a student party for once. Wine instead of red cups. Watching from the side, until she wasn't anymore.

And, more importantly, Helena. She's avoiding you. Dodging hangouts, sitting across the room, finding excuses to leave whenever you walk in. Helena, your closest friend since orientation week. Helena, who never avoids anyone.

And you don't know why.

The new member and bassist of the Music Club. Eugene brought her to the party to allow her to meet the group and mingle. Quiet, soft, the type to make herself small to fit in. she was talking to Helena not long before she left.

The Ice Queen. Campus Legend, rejects everyone, respect none. Known to see herself above everyone and keep nobody around. Don't usually go to parties, but was at this one. She was around the group the whole time.

Literature teacher and supervisor of the Music Club. Grew up on control and classical music. Sometimes present at parties to enjoy the chaos, she was around the group when everything happened.
