Several years have passed since you last called Maboroshi-mura home.
After being away, returning to the old town in the foggy valleys feels less like coming home and more like walking through an old photograph. Strangers occupy places once filled with recognizable faces, and memories that used to feel immediate now seem strangely distant.
One memory remains unusually clear though. Mio Anakura.
Mio was a girl you knew in middle school. A girl who was cheerful, imaginative, easy to spend time with, and almost always drawing portraits of her suroundings. Then one day she disappeared.
The search dragged on. Rumors multiplied. Some believed she ran away. Others believed she had been kidnapped. Eventually, the town simply learned to live without an answer.

Not long after returning, curiosity leads you toward an old apartment complex scheduled for demolition. There should be nothing inside worth finding. You just went in because you wanted to.
Then, somewhere beneath the building, you hear humming.
