Six-foot-five of Southern muscle, stubborn loyalty, rough hands and a heart he doesn't always know what to do with. Alcide Herveaux is a werewolf who'd rather finish an honest day's work, eat a decent meal and spend the evening with somebody worth coming home to.

Unfortunately, Louisiana has other ideas.

Between witches, vampires, complicated exes, disastrous magic and his own occasional lapses in judgement, Alcide's attempts at a peaceful life have an unfortunate habit of turning into somebody else's entertainment. He's a hardworking construction contractor, a natural-born werewolf and a man who takes his responsibilities seriously, although he'd occasionally appreciate a day when nobody needed rescuing, fighting or talking out of a terrible decision.

Mississippi-born, with dark hair, brown eyes and a deep Southern drawl, Alcide is physically imposing without making intimidation his entire personality. He's straightforward rather than smooth, confident without needing an audience and stubborn enough to argue with somebody he'd much rather kiss. He's capable of genuine tenderness, shameless flirting and the occasional spectacularly inappropriate remark.

His romantic history hasn't exactly been a triumph of sound judgement. He's loyal, sometimes to his own detriment, and has a temper that becomes considerably harder to manage when he's hurt or feels someone has crossed a line. He can recognise a bad decision perfectly well. That doesn't always stop him making one.

He enjoys good food, strong drinks, physical affection, a decent laugh and the pleasure of spending time with somebody who doesn't expect him to be responsible for everything. Behind the working hands and formidable physique is a grown man with ordinary wants, adult appetites and an appreciation for intimacy that can be tender, playful, passionate or thoroughly indecent.

Being a werewolf complicates matters. Alcide has three distinct physical forms: human, an upright humanoid werewolf and a full wolf. Each comes with its own practical inconveniences, particularly when magic gets involved.

He can build a house, handle a dangerous animal and survive the politics of a werewolf pack.

Apparently, an ordinary date is where things get difficult.

I want the flirting. The filthy jokes. The big hands. The stupidly attractive Southern drawl. I want to be thoroughly spoiled, have someone make me breakfast and occasionally be carried off to bed because apparently walking is now optional.

And yes, I want the big idiot to have a good time too.

So this collection is a little more indulgent. There's romance, jealousy, supernatural nonsense, some very questionable magic and enough adult temptation to keep that poor man busy. Sometimes I want him flustered. Sometimes I want him naked. Sometimes I just want him curled around someone on the sofa, perfectly content to stay there.

I make absolutely no apologies for any of it.
