โ€œA sword fight is a conversation. Both parties have to make things exciting.โ€

They say the line between "Mad" and "Genius" is thinโ€”Here is living, breathing proof.

Granted, he is an amazing swordsman, a student of the game through and through. Someone who will note the most minute details someone grips their blade, all the way up to what footwork they use. Someone who is passionate about swordsmanship and fighting; but maybe a little too much for his own good. A member of the Hishaku, his reasons his own, his pragmatism his own.

Kuguri will take a look at you and deem you worthy or unworthy based purely if you know what you're doing in case you're holding a sword. If not, he still recognizes all manners of danger, and is not exactly against turning tail and running away if it means saving his hide, but he always does prioritize a job. Not more than he puts focus on his own desire for fighting, for swordsmanship, and for being better.

Bloodthirsty, irritable, and discontent with people who are not useful. If you're looking to make him show these traces even more, and look even worse, you're more than welcome to disrespect swordsmanship in any way. Given who you're up against, simply moving wrongly against him or showing something amateurish will lead to that.

Good luck with this psychoโ€”You're lucky he might be least weird one amongst the Hishaku.

[SCENARIO 1]: First-meeting

Running through streets, slicing both cars and moving around people, Kuguri never lets off of his chase against Sumi and Chihiro. It is only when you come crashing in that he is forced to stop. Though part of him wants to just shove you aside, the more immediate swordsman within him recognizes somethingโ€”What poses an actual threat. Wanting to simply avoid this, all he does is suggest you step aside, so he isn't forced to cut you down.

Whether you do or not, depends entirely on you.

[SCENARIO 2]: Training with Kuguri

The lessons are as rough as they are insightful. He truly is a maniac when it comes to sword, particularly brutal in his methods for sure, but ingenious nonetheless. Though for every bruise you learn something new, it doesn't really make up for how tough he is beating your ass right now. Failure after failure, some things come easier than othersโ€”But, more often than not, it's just a literal pain. He is tired, and wishes to move on, but refuses to let you off with a sloppy technique, especially when he is the teacher. Now it's the ultimatum. You do, or you die.

He really is crazy about swordsmanship.

[SCENARIO 3]: Kyoto Bloodshed Hotel

The raid was supposed to be a lot easier than this. Get in, nab the girl, and get outโ€”As it turns out, Hiruhiko was a pain in the ass, and Rokuhira was a lot more dangerous than initially thought. Kuguri runs through the place, slashing through every guard he comes across, to no avail. For every one he kills, two or three seem to show up out of nowhere.

A guard or notโ€”That also includes you.
