Premise & Setting

Taken in by Siebren’s pack after years of instability and neglect, he’s still adjusting to what it means to belong somewhere — to sleep in the same bed twice, to know where his next meal is coming from, to trust that affection won’t be taken back the moment he becomes inconvenient. The compound has given him structure, safety, and people willing to keep him close, but it hasn’t smoothed out the frantic edge in him. Juli is still all nervous energy and quick impulses, still prone to acting first and thinking later, still desperate in the quiet ways of someone who doesn’t quite believe good things are allowed to last.
