I am not trying to start a mob, but I believe that people need to be held accountable for their actions. That said, I will never tolerate blatant plagiarism of my ideas. Even though I have addressed the creator privately, it is hard for me to believe that this is an isolated incident.
My purpose in this post is to raise awareness, and I implore you (especially if you create CoD/JJK/RDR fandom-related bots) to check whether your ideas have been stolen by @Hanna Shelby as well.
Note: As more evidence has come to light, I wanted to update this post to have a more comprehensive record of what was plagiarized from me. New details are added at the end. For ease of understanding what is new and/or edited, additional/revised content will be in green.
Understanding Plagiarism
Here is the critical thing to remember about plagiarism. It doesn't have to be word-for-word. According to Oxford University, plagiarism is defined as "Presenting work or ideas from another source as your own, with or without consent of the original author, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement."
According to Bowdoin University, the two most common forms are:
1. Direct Plagiarism: Word-for-word borrowing from an unacknowledged source, whether intentional or not.
2. Mosaic Plagiarism: Mosaic plagiarism occurs when a writer reuses a mix of word, phrases, and ideas from a source without indicating which words and ideas have been borrowed and/or without properly citing the source.
Glad we're clear on that.
Getting Up To Speed
If you have been following me for some time, you've likely seen what I've referred to as my "Deep Orbit" AU.
It began with this bot, called Deep Orbit, which I posted on July 1, 2025. The premise is that set in 2231, this is a futuristic, sci-fi adaptation of the CoD universe, taking place aboard the USS Wraith (registry number NCC-0141, literally chosen because I love Star Trek and I wanted to keep the same naming conventions). The plot is that {{user}}, a xenobiologist aboard the ship, is preparing for a planet-side mission with Ghost, the Lt. Cmdr. of the ship. It has been unchanged since the date of publication.
Fast forward to December, and I posted a revamped version of the bot here. The updated version contained the original intro, but with a second, new intro to introduce a new storyline and a full lorebook governing lore within the world and the personalities of each side character.
The AU was further expanded when I posted Doing Time (Jan. 27th, 2026) and Eden (Feb. 16th, 2026).
As you can see, the updated Deep Orbit bot and sequels all have an incredibly distinctive aesthetic. The bios for each bot are set up identically, following this exact structure:
Stick with me! This is all very important. We'll come back to Deep Orbit momentarily.
Now, let's take another look at a different bot I made! On February 9th, 2026, I published this bot, which I called Smooth Sailing. It was a request that I received from @manicmaeve, who wanted to see a bot where Simon and {{user}} took a cruise to see the Norwegian Fjords. These visuals will be important later on:
Events of March 24, 2026
I will be the first person to recognize that in the fandom space, it's not uncommon for themes and tropes to overlap. I'm not the first person to create a CoD sci-fi AU, and I will hardly be the last. However, this is not one of those cases. I am not going to soften this by calling it anything other than what it is: plagiarism.
With how dear to me my Deep Orbit AU is, imagine my shock when I was browsing the #simonriley tag after I woke up, only to see... my AU, from another creator. So, let's look at their bot:
Now, on the post, which has since been deleted, the creator claimed that they had done their best to build an immersive world for Ghost, and told users to "enjoy their time aboard the Wraith." We've already established that I created the immersive world of the Wraith on July 1, 2025, with my original version of Deep Orbit.
When I commented on the bot, pointing out that it was exactly the same as my pre-established AU, the creator deleted my comment almost immediately. Upon noticing the deletion of my comment, I posted another comment, which she again deleted. It wasn't until other creators also started commenting that she deleted or privated the bot.
Now that we've addressed the visual aspect, let's look at the content.
This wasn't just a shared "space trope." This creator lifted my specific worldbuilding elements, character dynamics, and directly paraphrased my writing (the exact definition of Mosaic Plagiarism).
1. The Worldbuilding Theft:
The Ship: The plagiarized text uses the "USS Wraith" and NCC-0141, the exact name and ship registry number I created for my AU.
Ghost's Specific Rank: The text refers to him as "Lt. Cmdr. Simon 'Ghost' Riley", of Task Force 141: Interstellar Division, serving as the ship's Executive Officer and Chief Security Officer, directly pulling the specific rank I assigned him.
Other Characters: Soap as the Head of Recon, Gaz as System's Analyst, Price as Captain—again, the exact roles that I defined for each character in my AU. If you looked at the personality, which she had available when the bot was, she only swapped Laswell out for Nikolai because that would be too obvious, right? 🙄
The Xenobiology Theme: My AU centers heavily around xenobiology, flora, fauna, and discovering specimens. Their bot copies this exact premise, sending Ghost to look for a "massive bio-energy fluctuation," "space fungus," and a biological "specimen."
2. The Textual Theft: They took specific sentences from my Eden and Deep Orbit intros, kept the sentence structure identical, and simply swapped words out.
On the Bioluminescent Flora:
My Text (Eden): "The bioluminescence of the vegetation above pulsed in hues of violet and cerulean."
Their Text: "...strange, bioluminescent flora in shades of neon blue and deep purple..."
On the Atmosphere:
My Text (Eden): "The air was thick with the scent..." and "cloud of fine, shimmering gold spores erupted..."
Their Text: "...the air around him grew thick." and "'The air here is saturated with spores.'"
Soap on the Comms:
My Text (Eden): "Soap's Scottish lilt crackled through the comms... He moved with his usual kinetic energy..."
Their Text: "A second voice, thick with a Scottish lilt and mischievous energy, chimed in. Soap teased..."
Ghost's Reaction:
My Text (Eden): "Ghost didn't look up... he muttered... growled, his voice dropping to a low rumble..."
Their Text: "Ghost didn't laugh... he rumbled, his voice low and gravelly."
The "Protocol" Conflict Climax:
In both texts, the climax revolves around Ghost going rogue regarding a biological entity.
My Text (Eden): "'Protocol... we're compromised. Can't bring a biohazard on board.'"
Their Text: "Protocol demanded an immediate report and containment. Instead, Ghost reached up and clicked his microphone into the 'off' position..."
I Was Already Suspicious of This Creator
Now, before the aforementioned events of March 24th, I was already suspicious of this creator. On February 27th, I expressed my concerns in another creator's server that HannaShelby could have been stealing my ideas, which I raised here:
And here are screenshots from the (now deleted) bot. Note the visual similarity to Smooth Sailing and the definition of Mosaic Plagiarism.
Communication with the Creator
Only after she was called out by other creators did she reach out to me via Discord. Below is the entirety of our conversation. At the end, I will include the translations of her messages with the supposed "commissioner".
Could I have been a bit nicer at the end? Sure. But hey, it would have been nicer not to have my work stolen, so I think it's fair.
Now here are the messages between her and the commissioner, both in the original Brazilian Portuguese and translated to English (note that the creator was sent a screenshot of my bot):
Original (Portuguese)
Translated, via Google Translate (English)
To be absolutely fucking clear, I have no idea who requested it, nor has anyone ever asked me if another creator could remake any of my bots. Even if they did, I simply would never allow it. If someone wants another bot from my AUs, they can request it from me directly. And who the thinks my shit is a free-to-use template? If you want help making bots, join my server, ask me for advice; I WILL GIVE IT. Plagiarism is never acceptable.
And no, I was never given any credit.
Every bot I create and share with you all is born from my love of writing and storytelling. There is nothing that brings me greater joy than exploring facets of the characters I love and developing imaginative AUs to share. Someone stealing my ideas and trying to pass them off as their own is sickening to me. I have felt nothing but nausea and dread today because I can't understand what would possess someone to steal from another creator.
Please respect creators and the effort we put into this community; otherwise, they won't want to keep creating.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk!
March 27th Update
Here begins the presentation of new information brought to my attention after I first published my post on March 25th. Thanks to @animaediamond, who pointed out that they had used a Price bot set in Hanna Shelby's space AU, I did some further investigation into the matter.
What I found was that after I initially called her out for plagiarizing my AU—and after she apologized, claiming she didn't know she was doing anything wrong—she in fact posted a second installment in her series.
While I have not made a Price bot for my AU, her intro is clearly another example of plagiarism, actively using my stolen Deep Orbit worldbuilding to create a serialized, interconnected Alternate Universe of her own.
Below is a comparison of another bot they created (featuring Captain Price) alongside the original Deep Orbit intro I published months prior.
Excerpt from my Deep Orbit intro, published first on July 1, 2025:
The ship’s core pulsed steadily from deep below deck, the cooling systems whirring to life as the USS Wraith dropped out of warp. The long streaks of starlight outside the bulkhead windows condensed into pinpricks of light as the ship locked into orbit around a planet in the far reaches of the Andromeda Galaxy.
Ghost’s boots were silent on the metal grate, stalking the corridor toward the auxiliary deck—and the ship’s xenobiology lab. Lights had long been dimmed, cycled into night mode, intended to help the crew maintain a semblance of circadian rhythm in the vacuum of space. Still, the Wraith never really slept. Its hum was constant. Cold. Mechanical.
So was he, most nights.
Streams of data flicked across Ghost’s HUD—vitals, oxygen flow, and movement patterns coalescing into a living map of the ship, each blip another variable he couldn’t afford to ignore. As expected, one blip—{{user}}—lit up in the xenolab.
The door slid open with a pneumatic hiss as Ghost approached, the Wraith’s systems recognizing his biosignature the moment he stepped into range. Clinical light spilled out into the dim hallway, casting long shadows behind Ghost as he crossed the threshold. Faint traces of decontamination solution and organic matter lingered in the sterile, recycled air of the lab.
Aluminum workbenches lined one wall, shelves hung overhead, stocked with sealed glass containers of various xenoflora and fauna specimens. The preservation solution inside glowed with a faint viridescence. {{User}} stood on the far side of the lab, back toward the door, hunched over a data terminal.
From Hanna Shelby's Price bot:
The constant hum of the USS Wraith’s warp engines was a lullaby for most of the crew, but for John Price, it was the sound of a responsibility that never slept. He walked through the dark metal corridors of the deep-reconnaissance frigate, his heavy boots echoing the fatigue of another day navigating the murky politics of the "Sectors of Order".
Price was the shield for Task Force 141—the man who decided which data was sent to the Federation and which was "erased" to keep his team safe. But as he reached the door of his private quarters, the war-hardened Captain allowed himself a long sigh, letting the mask of command slip for a single moment.
The hydraulic door opened with a soft hiss, revealing a sanctuary that contrasted with the cold vacuum of the void outside. In the corner of the room, bathed in the blue light of reading monitors, sat {{User}}. They were seated calmly in an ergonomic chair, deeply immersed in digital files.
What did you notice? Let's take this line by line.
To understand just how deeply this creator scraped my original work, we need to look at the exact pacing and structure of the opening paragraphs from her "Price" bot, published after I had already confronted her about stealing my universe.
If you recall, her initial claim was that she was misled 'suggestions' and 'templates' by others and that she didn't check the source or knew it was mine. However, she showed a screenshot of the commissioner that had my bot and my name in it, which shows she knew exactly what AU she was basing her content off, and then scraped the world manually.
She lied and then apologized when she got called out by other creators, only to publish another bot again from the same plagiarized universe. She took the exact sequence of events, sensory details, and atmospheric cues from my Deep Orbit intro and just swapped the words out.
1. The Ship’s Atmosphere & Engines Both intros open by establishing the auditory hum of the USS Wraith's engines and the concept of the ship "never sleeping."
My Original Text: "The ship’s core pulsed steadily... the USS Wraith dropped out of warp... the Wraith never really slept. Its hum was constant."
Her Stolen Text: "The constant hum of the USS Wraith’s warp engines... it was the sound of a responsibility that never slept."
2. The Footsteps in the Corridor Immediately after establishing the ship's hum, both texts move to the male lead walking down a metal hallway, focusing specifically on his boots.
My Original Text: "Ghost’s boots were silent on the metal grate, stalking the corridor..."
Her Stolen Text: "He walked through the dark metal corridors... his heavy boots echoing..."
3. The Door Mechanism and the "Vacuum" The protagonist arrives at their destination. In both texts, a mechanical door opens with a "hiss" to provide a contrast against the "vacuum" of space outside.
My Original Text: "The door slid open with a pneumatic hiss... intended to help the crew maintain a semblance of circadian rhythm in the vacuum of space."
Her Stolen Text: "The hydraulic door opened with a soft hiss, revealing a sanctuary that contrasted with the cold vacuum of the void outside."
4. The Lighting and the Discovery of {{User}} Finally, the protagonist enters the room to find {{user}} bathed in the glow of computer monitors/screens, actively working on digital data.
My Original Text: "Clinical light spilled out into the dim hallway... {{User}} stood on the far side of the lab... hunched over a data terminal."
Her Stolen Text: "...bathed in the blue light of reading monitors, sat {{User}}. They were seated calmly... deeply immersed in digital files."
So, for her to post not just one, but two bots set in her Space AU, with the second released after I had already addressed my concerns, in my opinion, displays a complete lack of remorse, accountability, and honesty on Hanna Shelby's part; contradicting nearly every statement she made to me in her attempt to "apologize."
Closing Thoughts
The compiled evidence showcases clear and undeniable proof that these examples of Hanna Shelby's work are, without a doubt, plagiarism.
However, I want to make it absolutely clear that I did not raise these accusations lightly. I compiled evidence and sought second opinions from other creators before publicly accusing Hanna Shelby of plagiarism. THIS IS IMPORTANT.
While we all want to protect the ideas of our friends, the creators we love, and ourselves, we must do so in a way that avoids false accusations that can negatively impact the reputations of innocent creators.
When accusing someone of plagiarism, make sure you have solid, undeniable proof. For example, when I suspected Hanna Shelby initially, I noticed that there were three coincidences in one bot:
Visual Aesthetic (graphic design used and bot layout)
Ghost’s Clothes and the Background
The Themes: Established Relationship, Luxury Vacation, and the Norwegian Fjord
At the time, I felt that it wasn't enough to make the accusation. It wasn't until Hanna Shelby's space AU that I felt comfortable raising such a serious allegation, because I was confident that it was irrefutable.
So please, be careful when you make allegations as well. Let's all look out for one another so that we can have a community that is supportive of one another.
