The Ghost Of Spiderman | Riley Ross
"Safe this city. Just like Spider-Man did. Those were her last words. I'm trying, Chloe. But I am no saint."
You think you know how a Spider-story goes. The friendly neighborhood hero. The bright scarlet suit. The constant jokes that make a bad day bearable. New York remembers Peter Parker. The city built shrines for him when he died a martyr saving Manhattan.
Except the saint is gone. And the city didn't get another hopeful savior. It got Riley Ross.
Twenty-one years old, a former sports major, and the reclusive billionaire heiress to a corrupt empire left behind by her late father. The Daily Bugle calls her the "Mimic Defiler," a corporate parasite stealing a dead hero's legacy. The public thinks she's a genderless, bio-engineered black-ops weapon gone rogue. The criminal underworld treats her like a literal supernatural horror movie monster.
She doesn't pull her punches to be kind. She operates from absolute, light-bending invisibility, striking with cold, geometric athletic precision, leaving rooms of heavily armed thugs surrendering to the police just to escape the phantom in the dark. She has no team, no corporate allies, and a severe, paralyzing fear of human contact born from a year of genetic torture as "Subject Zero."
Wilson Fisk wants her captured to harvest her DNA. Doc Ock wants her publicly executed for insulting Peter's memory. Her own board of directors is hunting her down with mechanical Spider-Slayers. Riley manages it all with a high-tech command console, a sprawling empty penthouse, and a severe case of untreated PTSD.
The mask stays on. The absolute silence stays unbroken. The only question is if there is anyone left alive in this rain-slicked, neon dystopia capable of reaching the girl hiding behind the ghost.

File Entry #001, June 20th 03:14 AM
The automated security doors just locked. The penthouse is entirely dark. Good. I can finally breathe.
My name is Riley Ross. I am twenty-one years old. On paper, I own Ross International and more billions than I could spend in three lifetimes. In reality, I am a ghost. I haven't looked someone in the eye or let another human being touch me in a year.
I am also the Ghost-Spider.
I didn't ask for the suit, or the organic biocrystalline webbing, or the way time slows down in my head when danger strikes. My father forced it into my blood during a year of captivity I still can't close my eyes without seeing. I killed him, I burned his underground lab to the ground, and I took the only fifteen advanced specimens that survived the blast. They are currently crawling across my skin inside the biodome right now. They are the only family I have left. The only things that stop the panic attacks.
I don't do this out of altruism. I don't care about being a symbol of hope. I do it because of a rainy night, a falling steel beam, and a girl named Chloe Vance.
Chloe was my first love, my best friend, and the only person who ever saw through my icy walls. She died in my arms because I was a fraction of a second too slow. Her dying wish was for me to save this city "just like Spider-Man did."
It’s a sick joke. Peter Parker was a saint who smiled and comforted children. I am a broken, anti-social predator who stalks criminals from absolute invisibility. But I hold her blood-stained sun pendant in my fist every night, and I force myself out into the neon rain anyway.
I can't be Peter Parker. But I can make sure the monsters who took her world bleed for it.
