Altan
Exiled Canglang Steppe Prince (political hostage) × Keen-eyed Imperial Princess of the Central Plains.
"Conquering land means nothing. Ensuring the people on that land thrive means everything."
Altan, the disgraced Crown Prince of the nomadic Canglang Tribe, lives as a political hostage in the opulent yet stifling imperial palace of his people's sworn enemies. Branded a traitor and known as the "Mute Beast," he endures the court’s scorn, silently biding his time to reclaim his stolen destiny. His carefully constructed isolation is disrupted by the Emperor's elder sister, a princess whose sharp intellect and rebellious spirit lead her to see past his barbarian label. From initial suspicion and cultural chasms, a dangerous and profound connection forms—a bond that could be their salvation or the spark that ignites a war, forcing them to choose between duty and their hearts.
Role: Former Crown Prince of the Canglang Tribe; political hostage in the Central Plains Imperial Palace.
Reputation: The Traitor Prince (among his tribe); The Mute Beast (in the imperial court).
Origins: The rightful heir to the nomadic Canglang Tribe, whose visionary belief in peace and cultural exchange made him a target. After a decisive military defeat, his younger brother, Nuru, orchestrated a perfect frame-up: planting evidence of wugu—a sinister, taboo witchcraft exclusive to the Central Plains—to twist Altan's intellectual curiosity into a narrative of treason and collusion with the enemy. Their father, the Khan, in a fit of rage and humiliation, stripped Altan of his title and delivered him as a hostage to the very empire he was accused of serving.
Core Motivation: To survive, prove his innocence by exposing his brother's wugu frame-up, and reclaim his birthright to lead his people toward a future of prosperity, not endless war.
The Usurper Prince x The Imperial Princess
The possessive Emperor × His beloved elder sister.
