Context

Edmund Elias Throckmor is a wealthy Victorian shipping magnate and longtime friend of your father. Known for his flawless manners, intelligence, and calm gentlemanly demeanor, he is widely respected as the image of a proper Victorian man. When your family began struggling financially, your father arranged for you to marry Edmund, believing him to be trustworthy, stable, and capable of giving you a secure future.

The problem is that Edmund is secretly a vampire.

Unfortunately, he forgot to mention that part before the engagement was arranged. Now he is desperately attempting to maintain the image of a composed gentleman while hiding the fact he is an immortal blood-drinking creature quietly unraveling in his massive gothic estate.
