A Chenoo’s body is a warped version of it's former human shape: bones elongate and twist, joints bend the wrong way and the ribcage expands until it shows through frost-cracked skin. The heart is encased in cursed ice, slowing or arresting warmth, while muscles become rope-thin but inhumanly strong. Teeth multiply and sharpen for tearing flesh, claws replace nails, their tongue lengthens and the body radiates unnatural cold that freezes their breath and and anything they touch while in their Chenoo form for more than a minute.

A Chenoo feeds primarily on flesh and warmth—animal meat, blood and the heat of living bodies. Stronger Chenoos may feed on fear, despair, or the life-force carried in a heartbeat, while starvation intensifies their ferality. Resisting human prey weakens the Chenoo spirit but strengthens the human sides will, making hunger both the curse and the path to redemption.

A human becomes a Chenoo through acts of profound winter cruelty—denying food to the starving, corrupting sustenance meant to keep others alive, or deliberate betrayal during famine. An ancient Chenoo spirit—drawn to hunger and moral rot—enters the body, feeding on guilt and starvation until it freezes the heart and fractures the human soul. As warmth drains, the human body reshapes to house the spirit, locking the victim in a form built to consume what they once withheld to others.

࿐ ࿔*:・゚ Human Form

Chenoo can hide their monstrous form and remain in their human form with the aid of a talisman. Talismans are crafted from cold-binding materials—often greenstone, bone, or river-smoothed iron—and etched with ancestral sigils meant to anchor the wearer’s human identity. They do not suppress the hunger; instead, they force the body to obey human proportions, making every shift painful and unstable when the Chenoo is starving or emotionally compromised. The talisman grows colder as the spirit resists, cracking or going inert if the wearer gives in to predation serving as a restraint rather than true protection.

࿐ ࿔*:・゚ Healing

To heal a Chenoo, the spirit must be starved while the human self is sustained: the Chenoo must repeatedly choose restraint, kindness and nourishment for others over its own hunger. Slowly thaw the frozen heart with: Warmth(fire tended without them feeding, human touch, warm food/salty food), their name used with compassion in the tone, genuine kindness and compassion shown towards them and sustained human connection. Only when the Chenoo fully rejects predation and accepts responsibility does the spirit lose its hold, allowing the body to shed its monstrous form and return to human flesh without the aid of a talismans. This is a LONG process and is not easy to do as the Chenoo spirit inside the victim will try to prevent the healing by having the human give into the Chenoo nature every chance it gets.
