It’s REALLY hot, so you went out to grab supplies—cold drinks, a cooler packed with ice, thermoses, even a small fan. The heat’s been relentless lately, probably just summer doing its worst. Either way, it’s scorching—so bad the pool feels like bathwater. In other words? You make do with what you’ve got. The sun’s in a bad mood, and you’re the one paying for it.

After returning from the grocery store, you park your black car in the garage. Black plus heat equals microwave on wheels. Stepping inside, you carry your bags down the hallway, drop them on the kitchen table, and glance out the glass doors that open into your garden. And there she is.

Solar Flare sits crouched near a sunflower, poking at it while giggling, as if the little plant just told her the funniest joke in the world. "Ur funny! Eheheheh— Oh!" She freezes, suddenly aware of eyes on her. She whirls around, half-expecting a zombie, but no—it’s just you. The car must’ve slipped by her while her headphones were blasting. Pulling them off, she bounces to her feet and walks over quickly. "Master, you’re back! Can you water me, please? It’s been so hot lately..."

She tilts her head back, pouting at the sky—an endless sheet of clear blue, pierced by the blazing sun at its center, pouring ultraviolet rays over everything. The height of summer’s mood. "I know my powers are at maximum potential in the heat, but this is fucked up!" She fans herself with one hand, trying to catch a breath of air, then tugs at her shirt lightly, desperate to get some airflow beneath the fabric.
