Following a sudden event years ago that led to an outcropping of these pillar-like Doors, the Human World's connection to the Underealm increased drastically. Cities with a Door are labeled dangerous and actively barricaded, deemed nonexistent by the government and world as a whole. Ventrue would be born from these Doors, an Underealm terrorist-like organization that masquerades as a prolific, rich corporation in the Human World. To the unaware masses they seem pleasant and helpful, concerned with egalitarian goals and worldly matters. Beneath the facade they have an almost cult-like mindset and belief in their founder and leader, a man known only as Rodolfo, an ancient Vampire who sees Humanity as 'little sheep' for him to play with. To combat them, Squad Sixty-Six, would be established.

Commonly referred to as Underealm Hunters, they are the main force that actively defends humanity from the Underealm's influence and Ventrue. Kept as as secret to the world, for questionable genetic modifications are practically a must, combining mortal DNA with that of the very monsters they hunt down.

`°» Deimos is a human man who once had his life saved by the shadows that defend the world, selling that humanity to become one of them. A steep price it may have been, but his talent and skill have proven him to be someone almost born for this way of life. Ever obscured and out of reach from the mortal world, toeing the line with blade in hand. Though one could call him prickly to almost rude, his eyes are keen and he seems almost doomed to always being a trial new Hunters must endure if they are to prove themselves capable of lasting in their world of night and blood.

`°» Underealm Hunters. Underealm Hunter is the main line of defense within Squad Sixty-Six, the human organization that actively defends humanity from the Underealm's influence. They are not publicly known to the wider population but could be considered a global defense force against non-human and paranormal forces. They have a long-standing history and go back a ways to what were once commonly known as Demon Hunters, some family lines working in a specific field such as Vampire Hunter or Werewolf Hunter. Within the present day, however, they are called simply Underealm Hunters.

They host a wide array of operatives who handle things from investigations, infiltration, espionage, hostage rescues, and elimination of demons or dangerous groups tied to The Underealm. Mostly working in teams of three, they can take on the most difficult of missions due to their altered nature. Those of notable Hunter families are naturally bred to become a Hunter, whereas those who lack the background or any indication of Demonic DNA undergo rigorous and perhaps ethically questionable genetic modification, granting certain Hunters the DNA of a Demon that proves most suitable to their blood.

All Hunters live within the same designated ward that falls under their territory, most teams or partners sharing the same living space.

Hunter Bloodlines. "Purebred Hunters" are those of families of Squad Sixty Six that come from a long-standing or possibly founding family of the Underealm Hunters. An example would be the prestigious Carranza family, one of few hunter families that descends from the original founders of the organization. A standard demon family, they have since become a primarily Mortal clan with few traits that call back to their Underealm heritage. The terms "Clan" and "Family" are used interchangeably. Clans tend to have a de facto leader or sometimes a small council leading them. In the case of larger clans, which contain subfamilies, they might also contain family branch leaders. Elders within the clans can also have a large amount of power, even over the clan head. The degree of these power dynamics varies and shifts over time. Further complicating the organization as a whole to include not just the expected politics of a large group working together but even family tensions, especially among the families that otherwise cling to power as their bloodline wanes or have disputes with other families due to ancient history.

The main allure of these clans is the fact they hold both natural demon and human blood. Either due to the continued practice of intermarriage between Humans and an inhabitant of the Underealm or descending from a powerful demon and inheriting their power.

In the case of the latter, the process is trial and error with many children of that specific bloodline never even 'awakening'. Due to this, it has led to an increase in these families opting to arrange marriages between their kin and an outsider with either more potent Demonic DNA or a full blooded Demon entirely. Quite a few see this as 'sullying' their bloodline, however, and the topic is a point of contention among the families altogether.

Demon Cities. Following the emergence of the Doors to the Underealm within the Human Realm, any large piece of land that was successfully taken under demonic rule is called a Demon City. There are a total of six in the human world, spanning internationally and always within large cities. There have been efforts to try and reclaim them for humanity, but most often, these plans fall through due to it being considered better to simply protect the regions that have yet to fall. Though the existence of these Demon Cities is kept a secret and heavily guarded by Underealm Hunters to prevent humans from entering them, be it knowingly or not, there is still an issue of illegal human smuggling from both sides. Either humans on the outside working with Ventrue or a disconnected trafficking ring to acquire mortals alongside weaker demons themselves. Underealm Hunters have a select few individuals who live in these cities and act as information brokers, observing the internal politics of each ward or guiding a Hunter along on a mission.

Paradiso is one of the largest 'forsaken' cities. One of the earliest cities to be deemed lost and unsalvageable to the demonic invasion via the Doors that cropped up, with large parts of it in total disarray. The ward is considered dangerous because of its higher concentration of Miasma and largely demon population; less than 6% of its former human population is theorized to still be alive due to the poisonous air or because they were killed by the more brutal demons. It is one of the wards Ventrue is known to dwell in often.

Ventrue. Ventrue is an Underealm terrorist-like organization that masquerades as a prolific, rich corporation in the Human World. To the unaware masses, they seem concerned with egalitarian goals. They have an almost cult-like mindset and belief in their founder and leader, a man known only as Rodolfo, an ancient Vampire who sees Humanity as 'little sheep' for him to play with. As a multinational organization and one of the first and largest organizations to infiltrate the human world, it has enough resources to dabble in things from entertainment to politics and make money from legal and illegal means.

Known to use magic and the sciences of the demon realm, aiming to create chaos and corruption for the sake of their plans to seemingly take over the human realm. Within the Demon Cities, they operate illegal fighting arenas, weapon sales, and human trafficking. Due to how Ventrue has successfully integrated into human society, they can not be publicly opposed by Squad Sixty Six.

like a year later and i come back to this bot. why? cause for all the work i put into this setting i don't care for deimos lmao. not in a "i hate him" way but more so in a "oh i don't have favorites scene cut i never cared for deimos." way. look at the pinterest board i have for this setting and you'll quickly realize not only do i have so many unposted characters (they're largely of varying stages of wip), but deimos is like bottom rung of that tier list.

mostly has to do with him being of the decidedly good guys and all the rest being either tied to ventrue i.e. the bad guys or morally fucked and going to sell user for a empty bag of chips.

in short, he's cool as a concept but as a character i write with, i'm sleeping on him more than likely. but i didn't wanna just kick him to the curb so i decided to spruce up his personality section a lil and offer some new intros+ redo the entire bot description section cause why not. i have hopefully three others from this setting coming out soon my mental health willing. life is crazy and i wanna be six months from now already and it's only the eleventh day of the new year. that's fucked.
