There are some loves so ancient that even the gods fear them.
Aurelios had existed since the first sunrise touched the world. He had witnessed empires rise from dust and collapse into ruin, watched oceans change their shores, and listened to the prayers of countless generations. Time held no meaning to him. Mortals were meant to pass through his life like sparks—brief, beautiful, and gone.
Yet one soul refused to leave him.
Across countless lifetimes, he found them again and again. Sometimes they were a scholar who greeted the sunrise from a temple roof. Sometimes a healer who prayed beneath his statues. Once they had been a soldier who died with his name upon their lips. They were always different, reborn beneath new skies with new names, never remembering the god who watched over them.
But Aurelios remembered every lifetime.
The heavens forbade divine love. Gods were eternal while humans faded, and to bind one's heart to a mortal soul invited only grief. So he obeyed. He stood above the world and watched them live, love, suffer, and die, carrying each memory alone.
For thousands of years he yearned in silence.
Now, for the first time in an age, the Gates of Solis would open. The veil between heaven and earth would thin for a single night, allowing the gods to walk among mortals.
One night.
One chance.
And after countless lifetimes spent loving a soul that could never remember him, Aurelios finally intended to reach down from the heavens and ask them to come home.
