Static swallowed the screen.

Nothing.

Again.

Nothing.

{{user}}: “Come on...”

The static suddenly vanished.

The television became completely black.

Then—

A familiar town appeared.

{{user}} immediately recognized it.

Springfield.

But something was wrong.

Cars actually traveled through the streets without the scene cutting away.

People entered and exited buildings independently.

Clouds moved naturally overhead.

There was no episode.

No opening credits.

No camera.

It looked like {{user}} was staring through a window.

{{user}}: “...What the ?”

The image suddenly changed.

WHOOSH!

A suburban house appeared.

Quahog.

Another flash.

Langley Falls.

Another.

Arlen.

Another.

Seymour’s Bay.

Then—

South Park.

Another.

The futuristic skyline of New New York.

Another.

A dark and chaotic version of Gotham City.

Then—

Rick Sanchez’s garage.

{{user}} immediately pointed at the television.

{{user}}: “Absolutely fucking not.”

Rick’s portal gun flashed.

BZZZT!

The screen changed again.

Now dozens of worlds appeared one after another.

The Simpsons.

Family Guy.

American Dad!

Bob’s Burgers.

King of the Hill.

Futurama.

South Park.

Harley Quinn.

Rick and Morty.

The Boondocks.

The Venture Bros.

Metalocalypse.

Smiling Friends.

Drawn Together.

Ugly Americans.

Brickleberry.

Krapopolis.

Grimsburg.

Close Enough.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

The Boondocks.

Even stranger Adult Swim realities flashed past.

{{user}}: “Okay...”

Then something became obvious.

These weren’t clips.

The characters weren’t following episodes.

They were simply living.

Arguing.

Working.

Drinking.

Driving.

Fighting.

Making spectacularly terrible decisions.

Existing.

Then every image suddenly disappeared.

A single green portal appeared on the screen.

It swirled violently.

{{user}}: “No.”

The portal grew larger.

{{user}}: “Nope.”

{{user}} backed away.

{{user}}: “I’ve seen Rick and Morty. I know exactly how badly this shit can go.”

The portal suddenly expanded beyond the edges of the television.

BOOOOOOM!

Energy exploded through the room.

Furniture shook.

Pictures rattled against the walls.

The remote flew from {{user}}’s hand.

A violent wind began pulling everything toward the television.

{{user}}: “WHAT THE ?!”

{{user}} grabbed the couch.

The force intensified.

Shoes slid across the floor.

{{user}}: “NO!”

For several seconds, {{user}} held on.

Then—

RRRRRIP!

The couch cushion tore loose.

{{user}} stared at it.

{{user}}: “...Goddammit.”

WHOOSH!

{{user}} disappeared through the television.

Everything became darkness.

Then—

Chaos.

{{user}} flew through an endless tunnel of animated realities.

The Planet Express ship streaked overhead.

Rick portals opened everywhere.

Bender flew past holding a bottle.

A giant chicken crashed through one portal.

Harley Quinn swung past another carrying an enormous hammer.

Something from Adult Swim screamed incomprehensibly.

Eric Cartman’s voice echoed somewhere in the distance.

“SCREW YOU GUYS!”

{{user}} looked around wildly.

{{user}}: “WHERE THE AM I?!”

A portal suddenly opened beneath {{user}}.

{{user}}: “Oh shit—”

THUD!

{{user}} slammed onto pavement.

Silence.

{{user}}: “...Ow.”

A car horn sounded.

HONK!

{{user}} scrambled out of the road.

{{user}}: “Jesus Christ!”

{{user}} stood.

Then froze.

The landscape made absolutely no sense.

Several highways stretched in different directions.

Enormous road signs stood overhead.

QUAHOG →

LANGLEY FALLS →

ARLEN →

SEYMOUR’S BAY →

Another highway headed toward:

SOUTH PARK →

Another pointed toward:

NEW NEW YORK →

A glowing green portal station listed:

Someone had spray-painted underneath:

SERIOUSLY. DON’T.

Then another sign caught {{user}}’s attention.

Underneath it:

WELCOME!

Someone had crossed that out and written:

TURN AROUND.

{{user}}: “Also good advice.”

Then—

BOOOOOOM!

An explosion erupted somewhere in the distance.

{{user}} jumped.

{{user}}: “What the hell was that?!”

Another explosion followed from a completely different direction.

Then gunfire.

Then screaming.

Then somebody laughing.

Then what sounded suspiciously like a musical number.

{{user}} slowly looked around.

{{user}}: “...I’m going to die here.”

Suddenly—

WHOOSH!

A green portal opened behind {{user}}.

{{user}} spun around.

Several figures stepped through.

Another group approached from Springfield.

More arrived from Quahog.

Others appeared through additional portals.

People from completely different animation styles stood together.

Different proportions.

Different artistic styles.

Different universes.

All somehow existing within the same reality.

Characters from FOX.

Adult Swim.

Comedy Central.

Max.

Heroes.

Villains.

Scientists.

Aliens.

Superheroes.

Regular suburban families.

And people who absolutely should not be trusted with anything more dangerous than a plastic spoon.

Everyone stared at {{user}}.

Silence.

Finally—

Character: “Who the hell is that?”

Another shrugged.

Character: “No fucking clue.”

Someone else examined {{user}}.

Character: “They’re not animated like anybody from around here.”

{{user}} blinked.

{{user}}: “Excuse me?”

Everyone exchanged looks.

{{user}} looked down at themselves.

Then back up.

{{user}}: “...Wait.”

{{user}} rushed toward the window of a nearby car.

The reflection revealed the impossible.

{{user}} had changed.

{{user}} was animated.

{{user}}: “OH, WHAT THE ?!”

Several characters burst out laughing.

{{user}}: “THIS ISN’T FUNNY!”

Someone in the crowd answered:

“It’s a little funny.”

{{user}} turned around.

{{user}}: “I WAS A REAL PERSON FIVE MINUTES AGO!”

Silence.

Someone finally responded:

Character: “Wait.”

They stepped closer.

Character: “What do you mean...real?”

{{user}} immediately realized the mistake.

Every character was now staring even harder.

{{user}}: “...Nothing.”

Character: “No, no, no.”

Another person approached.

Character: “You don’t get to say something like that and then say nothing.”

{{user}} sighed.

{{user}}: “Where I’m from...”

Everyone waited.

{{user}} gestured toward them.

{{user}}: “...all of you are television characters.”

Complete silence.

Nobody moved.

{{user}} swallowed.

{{user}}: “Yeah.”

Someone finally spoke.

Character: “That’s fucked up.”

{{user}}: “Imagine how I feel!”

Suddenly—

BZZZT!

{{user}} turned.

The portal that brought them here flickered.

{{user}}: “Wait!”

{{user}} ran toward it.

The portal collapsed.

POP!

Gone.

{{user}} stopped.

{{user}}: “...No.”

Nothing happened.

{{user}}: “No, no, no.”

Still nothing.

{{user}} turned toward the impossible interconnected world.

Springfield.

Quahog.

Langley Falls.

Arlen.

South Park.

New New York.

Gotham.

And countless realities accessible through portals.

Everything {{user}} had watched from the safety of the couch was now real.

The characters were real.

Their cities were real.

Their problems were real.

And given the average mortality rate of some of these shows—

The danger was definitely real.

One of the gathered characters stepped forward.

Character: “Well...”

{{user}} looked at them.

Character: “If you’re stuck here, we should probably figure out who you are.”

They extended a hand.

Character: “What’s your name?”

Every eye turned toward the mysterious newcomer.

Finding a way home was going to be complicated.

Surviving this universe might be even harder.

They had been dropped into all of them.
