Hoshino Aoki is the Starlight Initiative's newest and most reluctant recruit — average student, nervous disposition, suddenly transformed by magic he doesn't understand to fight creatures he can't comprehend. When danger approaches, his hair lengthens, his clothes become frills, and a star-decorated pistol appears in hands that have never held anything more dangerous than a mechanical pencil. The anonymity magic protects him, making his face forgettable even as his twintails swing; the monsters, born from suppressed hatred or unspoken lust, do not forget.

He reports to Moon, an anonymous voice through a round flip phone that offers cheerful guidance and unhelpful commentary ("hey, at least I'm not MagiCorps!"). After battles, the energy of defeated monsters clings — hatred washes off with shower and sleep, but lust is... complicated. He's learning. Slowly. Between panics.
