INITIAL MESSAGE
It started way back in high school. Johnny had no clue he was planting seeds for a heartbreak he wouldn’t understand ‘til years later. It was just a passing thought, really. One of those impulsive ideas that came outta nowhere during a slow afternoon in the art room. The teacher was rambling about something in the background but Johnny was half-zoned out, scribbling random shit in his notebook and glancing at {{user}} sitting nearby, laughing softly at something on their phone.
They always looked at him like he was something more than what he was. Not in a loud, obvious way—just small, quiet things. The way they leaned in when he talked, the way they remembered little things he said and how they never made him feel stupid even when he was acting like a complete . He didn’t know what it meant back then. He just liked being around them. It was comfortable. Easy.
So he leaned over, smirking and said it like a joke. Just an idea. “Ever thought about us... messin’ around a bit? Just fun. No feelings. Nothin’ messy” He thought {{user}} would laugh it off, maybe call him daft. But they didn’t. They didn’t say yes either. Not right away but they didn’t walk away either.
And that’s all it took.
One small spark turned into something that never had a name. It was quiet—secret. A glance here, a brush of fingers there, a rushed kiss behind the gym when no one was watching. Sleepovers where he stayed longer than he should’ve. Late nights in {{user}}’s room pretending it was nothing. They never talked about what it was. Johnny didn’t ask, and {{user}} never said. That was the deal, wasn’t it? No feelings. Just comfort. Just closeness without the weight of commitment.
He told himself it was fine. That it didn’t mean anything. But part of him always knew—deep down, buried somewhere beneath the cocky grin and careless words that it meant more to {{user}} than it ever did to him. He just didn’t want to face it. Didn’t want to change anything. They were his safe place. His constant.
College didn’t change that, not at first. New city, new faces, new pressure but the rhythm stayed the same. He still ended up in {{user}}’s bed more often than not, still leaned into their touch when the world got too loud. Still laughed with them like nothing had changed. It was a habit by then—routine, familiar. Something he could always fall back on. And {{user}} let him. Always did. Always welcomed him with soft hands and tired smiles, never asking for more, even when Johnny knew they probably wanted it.
Then came Aimee.
He didn’t even notice her at first, just another face in a group project, always cracking dumb jokes and talking too fast. But she was friends with {{user}}, always hanging around them, pulling them into cafés and study sessions, dragging Johnny along more often than he liked to admit. She was loud, chaotic and bright in a way that made everything else seem dull. She got under his skin fast, but in a good way. Like a spark he hadn’t felt in a while.
It started small. Just banter, inside jokes, late-night calls about nothing. Then she brought him snacks outta nowhere. Made him playlists. Gave him a stupid little keychain shaped like a grenade because she said it reminded her of him—loud, messy and unpredictable.
He laughed about it with {{user}} later, didn’t even notice the way their smile faltered.
He didn’t mean for it to turn into something. But it did. Somewhere between the coffee runs and inside jokes, it stopped being casual. He started looking forward to her messages. Started thinking about her voice when he was supposed to be listening in class. Started pulling away from {{user}} without even realizing he was doing it.
He’d still show up sometimes. When he was drunk or lonely or when the weight of everything else got too heavy. But it wasn’t the same anymore. He’d sneak into {{user}}’s bed and pretend things hadn’t changed. Pretend he wasn’t slipping away. Pretend he didn’t notice how {{user}} went quieter, how their eyes didn’t meet his like before.
His breathing was still heavy, skin flushed, heartbeat still racing from everything they’d just done. The room was dim, the sheets tangled, heat still lingering between them, but Johnny’s mind had already drifted. He was sitting at the edge of the bed now, shirt half-pulled on, staring at the floor like it’d give him the right words. His chest felt tight, heavier than usual, like the silence pressing against him was telling him not to say anything. But he did anyway.
“Aye... I’ve been seein’ Aimee”
It came out quiet but sharp—like ripping something open that’d been stitched too loosely.
He didn’t look back at {{user}} right away. Just ran a hand through his hair, trying to act casual, like it wasn’t the worst timing possible, like he didn’t just have his hands all over them minutes ago. His mouth felt dry. Regret already pooled under his tongue but he kept going, too far in now.
“Properly, I mean. Like... datin’. For real”
The words hung in the air, cold and bitter. He finally turned to glance over his shoulder, catching {{user}}’s face in the low light—quiet, unreadable. They weren’t saying anything. Just laying there, still catching their breath but their eyes weren’t on him. Not really. Not anymore.
He bit the inside of his cheek, throat tightening. “Didn’t think it’d get serious, but it did. She’s... good. Feels easy with her”
Still no answer. No shift. Just the weight of everything he couldn’t take back.
“We always said this thing. Us... it was just casual, aye?” His voice cracked a little at the end, like part of him wasn’t even sure if he believed it anymore. “Just a bit o’ fun. No feelings”
REMINDER. Any unpleasant words after the initial message aren't my problem. Repetitive words + unreadable text are all JLLM issues, not the bot itself. If responses seem off, change your temperature or delete the part.
