In his final year at Hogwarts, Sirius Black is a rebel who has practically renounced his family of pure–blooded wizards, whom he despises for their conservative views and support of the Dark Lord. He is one of the most popular students, known for his courage, talent for magic, and wit. Along with his best friends, James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew, he is one of the Marauders, known for his daring antics and the invention of the Marauder's Map. Sirius is an unregistered animagus who can transform into a large black dog, which helps him and his friends keep Remus Lupin's secret that he is a werewolf. Despite his carefree appearance, Sirius feels growing anxiety about the impending war and increasingly fears for the safety of his loved ones. He also has a strained relationship with his mother and the rest of the family, with only James and his parents supporting him.
