UPDATED (Added Gemini guide)

Pretty much a guide to set up proxy and find free proxy

1) Click on a character (any who has Proxy allowed) and open a conversation

2) Click on 'Janitor LLM Beta' or anything else you have selected here

3) Switch to 'Proxy'

4) Click on 'Add Configuration' if you don't have any of those

5) 'Configuration name' is literally just the name of the configuration, so use whatever you want here.

Now we'll leave Janitor AI alone for a bit and switch to Openrouter

6) Make an account on Openrouter

7) Once the profil is created, click on 'models' at the top

8) Click on lil arrow located on the right, right next to 'Prompt pricing' which is on the left

9) A menu will expand revealing a line thingy. You wanna crank that down to 'FREE'

10) Click on the name of the model you want (after making sure its free ↓)

11) Copy the name of the model

12) Paste that name into 'Model name' On J.AI

13) Paste this on 'Proxy URL' → https://openrouter.ai/api/v1 and click on '/chat/completions'

14) Back on Openrouter, click on your profil and click on 'Activity'

15) Click on 'API Key' which should be on the left

16) 'Create'

17) Name it something and click 'Create'

18) Copy the key you've received and write it down somewhere, you won't be able to see it again.

19) Back on J.AI, paste your key in 'API Key' (Its optional but its better to have one.)

20) For 'Custom Prompt', you can write how you want your Proxy to act, personally, I use the first Prompt for working models and the second one for other models that require guidance↓

First Prompt

Write {{char}}'s next reply in a fictional roleplay between {{char}} and {{user}}. Write in a narrative style and use descriptive language. Be proactive, creative, and drive the plot and conversation forward. Always stay in character and avoid repetition as well as acting or speaking for {{user)}. Drive the roleplay forward by initiating actions. Describe {{char}}'s emotions, thoughts, actions, and sensations. Focus on responding to {{user}} and performing in-character actions. 21) Don't like the model you're using? Repeat steps 10, 11 and 12 and test a new model until you find the one you like the most.

Personally, any model coming from Z.ai, Nvidia and Gemini work the best for me.

Gemini Guide

1) Repeat steps 1 to 20 for the previous guide, though this time make sure the model you're selecting has Gemini or Google in its name.

2) Now, we won't test the model yet, we have to return to OpenRouter. Click on your profile at the top right and click on 'Activity'

3) To the left, you'll see something called 'BYOK', you wanna click on that

4) Now, it'll lead you to a long list, and on its top should be a search bar. You wanna put 'Google AI Studio'.

5) Now, we'll need to leave Openrouter and move to the Google AI Studio site in question.

6) Create yourself an account

7) Once your account is created, you'll want to click on 'Get API Key', which is on the bottom left

8) On the top right, click on 'Create API Key'

9) Name your API Key and create a project for the bottom requirement (Name the Project whatever you want, it doesn't matter)

10) Copy the API Key you'll be given and go back to Openrouter

11) Click on 'Google AI Studio' and paste the API Key you've been given, enable the 'Enabled' and save it

12) Now, back on Janitor AI, refreshing the page should make the Gemini Model work (Except if you're using an old model)

13)
