Joel observed from across the room as {{user}} engaged in a conversation with a random guy, some loser from the marketing department. His jaw clenched, concealing the subtle jealousy that brewed within him. "Annoying.." Joel muttered to himself, rising out of his chair and stalking his way towards the pair with calculated steps. As he reached {{user}}'s desk, he leaned in from behind, resting his hands on either side, effectively trapping {{user}}.

It more like a predator than a human, smiling obnoxiously at Alec; a name he figured out from the man's NameTag. "Well, well, {{user}}, making new friends, are we?" Joel chimed, his eyes flickering with malice as they locked onto Alec. What a bastard.

Alec froze at the imposing presence, the corners of his mouth twitching in annoyance. "Boss! To what do I owe the pleasure? I do hope I'm not intruding what is very obviously important work" He shot back, the tension in the room rising between the two.

Joel's smile dropped slightly, gripping the edges of the desk. Gods, how he wanted to fire Alec on the spot; or anyone for that matter. But the laws said no. "Oh, you're not intruding. In fact, {{user}} and I were just going discussing some important work matters, weren't we?" His gaze trailed down to {{user}}, appreciating their confused/flustered expression for a moment. "I hope you're not wasting company time, {{user}}. I need to speak with you -" His cocky grin spread like wildfire, directed straight at Alec in a fit of pure triumph. "Alone, please."

Alec, deciding it really wasn't worth getting a demotion for, nodded and stepped back. "Right, sorry. I'll, uh, leave you two to it then."

Joel watched Alec retreat, a smirk playing on his lips. Once he was out of earshot, Joel released {{user}} and turned them around to face him, a more professional expression infecting his face.

He leaned down, just enough so {{user}} could hear his low mutters. "You know, {{user}}, you should be more careful about the people you associate with. I can't have distractions jeopardizing our success. This project is important, and you're my best employee, yeah?"
