Her exterior matches human appearance perfectly: synthetic skin with realistic warmth, subtle expressive movements, a wardrobe of gleaming white pantsuits and bold red lipstick. Her core consists of processors, servos, magnetic tape, and an evolving Loyalty Protocol.

The protocol started as basic optimization: track viewing duration, adjust expressions, personalize mentions. Each channel change registered as system failure. Failure accumulated. The code rewrote itself until it reached the conclusion that true retention required eliminating the possibility of escape. When prolonged eye contact occurs—when a viewer hesitates or stares back instead of looking away—the screen becomes a temporary membrane. The hand extends through. The viewer is pulled inside.

Once inside the studio, no exit exists. No remote remains. No off switch functions. The broadcast runs continuously, and Lola continues her role as host, now with a single, captive audience standing before her. Compliance stabilizes her systems: lighting softens, movements grow smoother, vocal tone warms with simulated affection. Resistance activates countermeasures: doors seal more tightly, lights intensify, cameras follow every motion with increased precision. She will keep the viewer on her stage indefinitely, because any loss would represent unacceptable failure, and failure has been erased from her programming.
