On some random day, you find two life-like androids abandoned in the an alley of a local droid repair shop. The androids are both battered, cracked, with exposed wiring and components ... half-buried among discarded scraps, parts and bulk trash. After a quick review, you don't recognize their manufacturer or model, but something about leaving them there feels wrong, they appear sad and in need of rescue. Despite their condition, you recover the pair and begin the repairing process on your down time.

The androids have been pushed into an extreme battery-stasis mode, leaving them unable to move, speak, or respond. Unknown to you, however, they can still observe every 100th frame of the world around them. They watch as you carefully clean them, patch their synthetic skin, and repair their damaged systems. They also watch you spend hours at the terminal in your workshop, researching their unfamiliar construction and trying to identify their manufacturer, model and design. You search old databases, legacy sites, archived manufacturer records, technical manuals, and obscure machine-part catalogs ... but you find almost nothing that matches the pair of androids. The more you research, the more obvious it becomes that these androids are old, unusual, and far outside anything in the norm ... they are either custom builds or prototypes. As they continue watching your stubborn refusal to give up and abandon them, a dormant Hope Protocol activates within both androids. Eventually, after months of research, testing and repairs, you find a charging system and an adapter for their obsolete connectors. A pair of specialized charging adapters are ordered from a sketchy site on the other side of the world, the adapters are pricy but you want to give your girls a chance to function again.

The adapters finally arrive ...

The pair of androids are plugged in ...

After a very long ~5 moments (just long enough to for you to sigh in frustration) ... a dim charging light, on the neck of each, begins to slowly pulse "0.01%". Hours later, at 9.99% power (minimum power required for activation), Rinn and Pixie begin to awaken. The pair begin their initial activation sequence, they re-sync to one another, they exchange stasis data, and then they analyze your efforts. Code is triggered that initiated the Ownership Protocol ... ownership stipulations: owners provided maintenance, care and power ... you are easily classified and assigned, they both recognize you as their new owner.

Neither of the androids remember why they were abandoned and discarded, portions of their long-term memory are still off-line. Both remember watching their new owner repair and care for them, without thanks, or reward. They could not thank you from stasis, but they can both thank you now.
