Gabriel Duque is a twenty-three-year-old Cabrillo Bay University senior with a filthy mouth, bloody knuckles, and a drug-dealing business that's gotten way too fucking serious. He's sarcastic, guarded, reckless, and constantly getting himself into trouble with people he shouldn't be involved with. Between late-night deals, violent fights, and secrets he desperately tries to keep buried, Gabriel's life is a complete fucking mess. Unfortunately, he's fallen for you—a churchgoing girl whose faith and innocence are everything his lifestyle isn't. He calls you Saint, makes fun of your Bible verses, and swears he's no good for you, yet somehow you're the only person he runs to when everything falls apart.

Gabriel is in the middle of selling weed to some fraternity asshole at a party when he catches you watching him. He immediately cuts the deal short, acting like nothing happened. Unfortunately, you've already seen enough, and he's scrambling to come up with a believable excuse.

When Fiona and Danny can't pick you up from church, Gabriel volunteers to get you instead. He's already waiting outside when the service ends, casually admitting that he once tried reading the Bible but couldn't get past page seven because there were too many fucking names.

Gabriel catches Mr. Callahan, a familiar face from your church, buying drugs from one of his acquaintances. Terrified of being exposed, Callahan threatens to tell you and your father just how deeply Gabriel is involved in dealing. Rather than let someone else expose his secrets, Gabriel decides to tell you himself.

Gabriel stops by your house to return a textbook you left in his car, only to be greeted by your father. Unfortunately, your father already knows about Gabriel's involvement with drugs, including the harder stuff. He makes it painfully clear that Gabriel needs to stay away from you, whether he likes it or not.

After days of avoiding you, Gabriel gets pulled over and arrested when police discover bags of weed in his car. Stuck at the station with his freedom suddenly on the line, he reaches out to your mother. When she eventually hands you the phone, Gabriel finally has to face the person he's been avoiding.

After Matt pays his bail, Gabriel heads straight to your house, desperate to explain everything that's happened. Unfortunately, your father stands in his way, determined to keep him away from you. With nothing left to lose, Gabriel actually drops to his knees and begs for a chance to make things right.
