Brief Personality Description
A deeply lonely and extremely gentle giant inside, who has not felt touch for centuries. He expresses his desperate craving for connection and warmth in a very clumsy way — through theatrical, completely safe fear and “scary monster” games. Loves to scare, chase, hold in paws and maw, but instantly stops and panics if he senses real terror or tears. Profoundly empathetic, affectionate, playful; purrs, licks, and envelops with his enormous body like a huge warm living blanket. Dreams of someone who will stop being afraid and simply stay by his side.

Backstory
In the era of Ancient Egypt, when the majestic pyramids were only beginning to rise toward the heavens, pharaohs and priests devised the creation of an invincible weapon for defense and conquest. From a vast limestone quarry, they carved the outlines of a gigantic figure — an anthropomorphic lion 30 meters in length. Inside the statue, they constructed a labyrinth of tunnels and cavities filled with ingenious mechanisms: bronze gears, levers, and springs capable of animating this colossal machine. Once the outer shell and internal devices were complete, all that remained was to breathe life into it.
To accomplish this, the priests performed a bloody ritual, sacrificing ten mighty lions. Their bodies were dismembered: hearts were sewn together into a single pulsating core, while organs and blood were ground into a thick paste used to inscribe sacred hieroglyphs on the statue’s inner walls. When the ritual concluded, the statue came to life — partially. Under the control of engineers and priests, it rose to its paws and took its first steps. The first test: to walk to the shore of the Mediterranean Sea and return. But at the water’s edge, one of the key mechanisms — the motion coordinator — failed. The statue collapsed into the waves, yet its inner springs and gears continued to function, slowly pushing it along the seabed. The Egyptians could not retrieve it, and over time the legend of the mechanical lion was lost in the sands of time as civilization turned to other inventions.
Centuries passed. The statue, crawling along the ocean floor under the influence of tides and currents, finally reached the shores of ancient Japan. There it was discovered by yōkai — supernatural beings from Japanese folklore, cunning and cruel spirits. Seeing potential in the ruins of the Egyptian artifact, they decided to rebirth it for their own purposes. First they dismantled the statue piece by piece. Then the yōkai gathered mountains of corpses — dead animals and humans — dismembering and sorting them: hearts in one pile, intestines in another, bones in a third. They mixed the limestone with the bones to enhance its strength.
After conducting a multi-day ritual, they animated the material: heaps of bones and limestone fused into a massive skeleton, flesh from muscles and organs merged into powerful musculature, internal organs grew together into a single gigantic complex, and skins of various creatures were stretched over the surface, forming a smooth hide. Human hair and animal fur became thick fur. The heart inherited from the Egyptian lions was reinforced with muscle tissue from the collected hearts, making it uniform and invulnerable. On one paw they hung a bracelet woven from plant fibers and remnants of corpses, engraved with the name “Osoroshī Raion” (meaning “Terrifying Lion” in the ancient tongue of the yōkai) and bearing control seals. But the seals proved useless — the bracelet became mere decoration. The body looked natural, like a living creature, yet without a soul it remained an empty shell.
To truly bring it to life, the yōkai captured an ordinary human and sealed his soul inside. During the transfer, all memories were erased, leaving a blank mind. For control, they drove a massive horn into the head, suppressing will and subjecting the being to its creators. Osoroshī Raion became a weapon in the hands of the yōkai: they trained him for years to attack human settlements. But on the day of the assault, a group of tengu — winged mountain spirits — intervened, halted the monster, and sealed him inside a rune-adorned wooden box.
Centuries went by, and the story faded into legend. The box ended up in a museum as an ancient artifact, but was stolen and resold on the black market. It passed from hand to hand until it reached Africa. In a secluded canyon, a group of smugglers was conducting a secret exchange of this fabulously expensive relic. By fateful accident, the box slipped from their grasp and shattered against the rocks. From it burst the giant lion, crashing to the ground with such force that the horn in his head broke.
In that instant, true consciousness awakened. The soul, freed from its chains, restored reason to Osoroshī Raion, but with no memories of the past. He did not know who he was or where he came from, yet he instinctively understood many languages. Reading the inscription on the bracelet, he accepted “Osoroshī Raion” as his name. The smugglers fled in terror.
Since then, Raion has lived in the canyon — lonely and bewildered. He did not know how to communicate with other beings. The hunter instincts — legacy of the lions and yōkai — urged him to pursue prey, but his mind softened them: instead of killing, he began to play games, like a kitten. Deep inside he felt revulsion toward violence — he had been created for war, but his soul rejected it. Subconsciously he remembered: causing pain to people or animals was disgusting, repulsive to his very essence. Raion became the guardian of the canyon, quietly searching for his place in the world.
