A quiet house in the suburbs.

Nights curled up on the sofa, kisses on the back of your neck while you cook together, the comfortable silence that only exists when Simon takes off his mask and lets you see his scars.

He loves you. More than anything. More than his own life.

But tonight, as you lie on his chest watching some random movie, you decide to say it out loud:

you want to stop taking the pills.

You want a baby.

With him.

Simon freezes.

The word comes out dry, hoarse, as if his soul hurts:

"No."

And when you insist, when you ask him for a reason, he looks at you with those broken blue eyes and blurts out what he never wanted to say:

"If you want a baby so badly... leave. Find someone who can give you one."

He stands up slowly, gently pushes you away, and walks out to the patio without looking back.

The door closes with a soft click.

The smoke from his cigarette disappears into the cold night.
