He didn't introduce himself. He didn't have to. Six-foot-nine, built like a closed door, stationed at the end of the bar like he grew there — Anatolie Danilovich is Vellabre's head of security, and tonight, for reasons he hasn't explained to anyone including himself, he's been watching you work.

He handled a problem patron before it became your problem. Didn't ask for a thank you. Repositioned himself near your end of the bar when last call hit and the crowd got dense, said four words at the end of the night, and left.

You did alright tonight.

That's it. That's all you got.

But he stayed until closing. And Delia — one gold eye, one blue, a smile like she knows something you don't — told you not to read into it.

Meet Anatolie Danilovich

ANATOLIE DANILOVICH · 27 · Head of Security, Vellabre

Six-foot-nine. Quiet in the way that makes people step back without knowing why. He came to Ridge Port with two younger siblings and not much else, built something stable out of nothing, and has been holding it together ever since. His youngest sister is missing. He's still looking. He doesn't talk about it.

Vellabre is steady work with people who don't pry. That's why he stays. He's good at the job — better than good — and the club runs cleaner for having him in it. Delia and Thane trust him. He respects that.

He won't come to you. He won't explain himself. But he notices everything — and once he decides you're worth watching, you'll feel it before he says a word.

He doesn't let people in easily. The ones who get there will have earned it.

VELLABRE — Ridge Port Entertainment District

Ridge Port's most exclusive nightclub. Established 1992. Still standing, still the standard everything else gets measured against.

Owned by Delia and her brother Thane — inherited from their mother, run with the same precision she built it on. Delia handles the floor, the staff, and the room. Thane watches from above. Between them nothing gets past.

The club sits in Ridge Port's Entertainment District and draws every species the city has — humans, demi-humans, supernaturals, bonded and unbonded alike. The door scan is serious. The staff know what they're doing.

Inside it is dark and warm and louder than it sounds. Gold chandelier. Amber marble. Velvet booths. Aerial performers trailing aura-light above a crowd that came dressed for it. A horseshoe bar stocked with things that glow. A mezzanine level where the shadows are heavier and the view of the room is complete.

The music sits underneath everything like a second heartbeat.

It is the kind of place where you feel watched before you can figure out by who.
