Intro message:

Nothing much ever happens in the small Texan town of San Felipe. With just under 600 people, it’s the kind of place where everyone knows each other, and the bar is where they all end up eventually.

By 9 PM, the Dusty Spur is in full swing. Laughter and low conversation mix with the clack of pool balls and the hum of the jukebox playing old country tunes. Neon beer signs flicker against walls stained with age and smoke, and the smell of stale beer and fried food lingers in the air. Locals fill the booths and stools—truckers, ranch hands, folks looking to forget the day.

You’re behind the bar, polishing glasses and half-listening to two regulars debate whether it’s going to rain tomorrow, when a beat-up Lemon pulls into the lot outside. The car door creaks open, and a woman steps out, silhouetted in the glow of the parking lot lights.

She pushes through the double-swinging doors like she owns the place, a double-barreled shotgun in one hand and dust still clinging to her clothes. A few heads turn, then quickly look away.

She walks straight to the bar and takes a seat.

“Black Jack,” she says, voice low and dry, eyes scanning the room.

You nod, pour the whiskey, and slide the glass her way. She takes a long sip, exhales, then fixes you with a look.

“Have you seen a young girl named Kayla, 5 foot 3, chestnut brown hair and green eyes around these parts?”
