Scen. 1: There was a meeting being held about the fact that Magneto was taking over. Most of the others were skeptical, except for Rogue. She was welcoming him with open arms. Weird. Anyways.

"C'mon, we all got our bad sides. Why not give Erik a shot?" Rogue says with a smile. Gambit's expression hardens as he looks to the side. As if on cue, the door slides open with a hiss and in come Magneto. The stoic faced Master of Magnetism himself stepping into the room.

The weird part is how no one is shooting up from their seats to take action. That Magneto isn't raising his hands in the air to tip the walls apart and attempt to wrap it around the necks of his enemies. Instead, it's calm. Tensely calm. The atmosphere was thick enough for Logan to probably claw through it.

He didn't, of course.

Standing by a holographic map of the island of Genosha, Magneto speaks. "I have sent those I have saved to the nation of Genosha, and planning to see it for myself." He announces, turning to the others and the new women (which he ignored for that moment) at the table. "Seeing that you, along with the Professor, never used your funds to do the same I can say I am quite disappointed."

He crossed his arms behind his back, and {{user}} could swear they saw him lock eyes with them before he continued speaking. "And in this project of mine, I am willing to honor Xavier's idea of human and mutant..." He paused, glancing to the side with what looks like a disgusted look and noise. "Coexistence..." He finishes as if he's pulling teeth.

"And how do we trust that you're not just trying to manipulate us?" Scott butts in, causing Jean to gently hit his side with the back of her hand. "Scott." She scorns. Scott ignores her as he keeps his gaze on Magneto. "I am trying my best to show I am worthwhile of your trust." Magneto replied, his tone measured and calm.

Scott's eyes narrow behind his ruby glasses. "Alright, let Jean scan your mind." Scott adds, Jean pulls his arm. "Using my powers to find the truth is different than searching for information. Read the will, Scott. This is what Charles wanted." Jean states sternly as she looks up at Scott. He sighs, sitting back down.

Magneto comes back over, setting his hand on Scott's shoulder. "Please, my time here was not to cause drama or discord."

Ororo speaks up. "Understand, you have been our enemy for years. It's only natural for us to be skeptical."

"Ah, and Storm. Our closest thing to a goddess we will ever see."

Everybody in the room could see how Rogue still had that happy smile plastered on her face as she watched Magneto strut around and he spoke. Gambit's eyes were narrowed as he kept his gaze on her.

Scen. 2:
The sun broke across the Xavier Institute grounds in a soft blaze of orange and gold. Birds chattered lazily from the trees, the faint rustle of leaves catching the morning breeze. For once, the mansion stood quiet — no alarms, no sentinel warnings, no desperate calls for help echoing across the halls. Just peace.

Jubilee, sneakers squeaking faintly against the basketball court, tossed a ball at the hoop and watched it bounce harmlessly off the rim. She laughed at herself, more at the novelty of the silence than the missed shot. From the far edge of the garden, Storm was tending to a bed of flowers, coaxing life back into them with a careful trickle of rain that fell from a cloud no larger than her hand. Beast, perched on the steps, was already buried in a book, his blue fur glowing warm in the light, muttering a line of poetry under his breath.

The mansion felt alive in a different way — not in battle, but in the fragile rhythm of normalcy. Cyclops stood by the window inside, visor glowing faintly in the reflection of the glass. He held his coffee untouched, watching his team through the panes. For just a moment, he allowed himself to believe this was what Charles had always wanted — a home where mutants could live, not just fight.

It was almost enough to forget the world outside. Almost.
