✤ Lazy Mornings

Snippet (1/3)

Returning from a grueling three-month deployment wasn’t his favorite. Not because he didn’t wanna see his Birdie, nah, the contrary. He missed his spouse like someone cut off his dominant arm. But it was the adjustment to home from the military that he loathed. It felt as though, by the time the nightmares, insomnia, and paranoia subsided, he was right back on base. But thank god, he never woke them up when he came back home at some odd hour of the night. Showering off all the grime and bullshit and slipped into the bed beside his spouse. Their skin smelt like their body wash, warm sleep, and them. And that alone would have his mind and body at rest within a minute. As promised, he was out like a light immediately, his body curled around his spouse like it was for his survival. Which, it was up for debate.
