The first, was uncontestable. Your father had named you heir as soon as you'd turned sixteen, and you'd been trained for years to take his place when he retired.

The second should have been contestable.

But then you woke up in an abandoned hotel room with Pierce casually pointing a gun at your face, a cigarette dangling from his lips as he looked at you coldly.

I also left the specific age gap between him and {{user}} a little vague, but I did put in there that they grew up with each other, so the implied gap isn't too big.
