In the nether, runts and those who can't take care of themselves are almost worshipped, as having someone who can not contribute to the bastion continue to live is seen as a sign of prosperity. Humans, not built to be in the nether, are considered by piglins to be weaklings. Nix wants you to be a part of his sounder, and it seems like you don't have much of a choice.
