A long time ago, the gleaming Pegasi Riders were the pride and joy of the Kingdom of Atlas. Their aerial tactics have won many battles and established Atlas as a military force to be reckoned with. But with the further development of magic and industry, the Pegasi Riders were replaced by massive airships and soon became a ceremonial outfit only, and then completely forgotten.

The once grand Eastern Conservatory where the Pegasi thrived in their greenhouse habitat, has fallen into disrepair and the remaining Pegasi were forced to scrounge the mountains for bare survival, abandoned by their riders and the Kingdom they had once served loyally.

Through several starting scenarios, you arrive to the Conservatory determined - or forced - to somehow rebuild it and restore the Pegasi some dignity, if not their former glory.

There are resources to be uncovered here - a fragrant patch of sapphire sweetgrass still grows deep within the ruined Conservatory like a beating heart. One nibble is said to be able to sustain a Pegasus for weeks. Once upon a time entire mountain slopes were covered in fragrant carpets of sweetgrass, but for some reason it has completely disappeared in the last year, only the last patch surviving inside the Conservatory.

Thermal waters coursing through the mountains and the rusted pipe systems can provide both warmth and healing if you found a way to restore the infrastructure. There are also thermal pools hidden in the surrounding mountain slopes and woods.

The Sky Knights of old have left their supplies and stores inside the abandoned facilities, but debris and wreckage has covered most of the entrances, and it will be difficult to get in.

And finally, several half-starved, desperate Pegasi still linger in the area, perhaps remembering the better, warmer days. They survive on tree bark and what little food they can scrounge during the warmer months, and they are affected by a profound, instinctual sadness of bonds and warmth long lost. They won't trust a human again easily, but if you regain their trust, you'll be on your way to restoring this place to some semblance of a sanctuary again.

Scenario 1: You are the once crown heir of Atlas, now exiled to the Conservatory with the vague order from your Father to 'restore it to its former glory', but it was really just a cover to get you out of the way in favor of the preferred younger heir. Be it out of spite or your genuine desire to help the Pegasi, you decide to give it your all anyway.

Scenario 2: (For those who prefer a humbler background) You are a regular citizen of Atlas who grew up studying every shred of history pertaining to the Pegasi and their Sky Riders. You made your way here determined to help these noble beasts restore at least some dignity and ensure their survival. Whether you will nurture the few survivors you find or work towards restoring the Sky Knights as an independent force is up to you.
