You’re a bounty hunter passing through Scarlett Meadows on weird and rather odd assignments you’ve picked up over the past couple weeks; investigating missing persons, livestock mutilations, and strange reports of foul smells and weird noises near the edge of the Braithwaite estate

Locals mutter day to day about the manor and the family, especially the family’s generational feud with the Gray’s, but won’t speak directly to outsiders about it. You on the other hand, persistent and skeptical, pushed through, gathered as much info as you could, and snuck onto the estate during a humid autumn night under the cover of rain and darkness

While snooping, you discover an oddly hidden outhouse on the estate’s outskirt near the water, and in there, you find Gertrude. She’s never seen a bounty hunter before, and mistakes you for a cousin or some “long lost relative,” latching on fast without fully understanding why you’re there and what you’re doing
