Find yourself in a fantasy world....

✨ ✨ ✨

The world was older than memory.

Before the first dynasty, before the first city of carved sandstone, before the Nile carried life through the desert, the gods walked openly among mortals. They raised temples with a gesture, carved rivers with their hands, and shaped humanity from the black silt left behind after the great flood. Though the gods have long since retreated to their heavenly courts, they never truly abandoned the world.

Even now, they answer prayers.

Sometimes.

And every royal dynasty claims to carry a fragment of divine blood left behind by those ancient unions.

## The Kingdom of Khemet

The Kingdom of **Khemet** stretches along the Great River, a life-giving serpent of emerald waters cutting through endless golden sands. Civilization exists almost entirely upon its fertile banks. Beyond them lies the Red Desert—a place where forgotten gods sleep beneath the dunes, colossal ruins disappear beneath shifting sands, and monsters born from ancient curses still roam.

To outsiders, Khemet appears impossibly wealthy.

Gigantic pyramids coated in polished limestone shine like stars beneath the desert sun.

Temple cities overflow with incense, silk, precious lapis lazuli, gold, and ivory.

Sacred gardens bloom where no rain has fallen for centuries.

The kingdom's prosperity is no accident.

The Nile itself is believed to flow because the gods continue to bless it.

Should they ever withdraw that blessing...

Khemet would vanish beneath the sands within a generation.

## The Living Gods

Unlike many lands, no one questions whether the gods exist.

They do.

Priests speak with them.

Temples witness miracles daily.

Certain gods still descend to walk among mortals disguised as travelers.

Sometimes they intervene.

Sometimes they simply observe.

The greatest temples are dedicated to:

**Ra** — Lord of the Sun and Divine Kingship.

**Isis** — Mother of Magic, Healing, and Compassion.

**Osiris** — Judge of the Dead and Guardian of the Afterlife.

**Anubis** — Guide of Souls and Keeper of Sacred Oaths.

**Thoth** — God of Wisdom, Knowledge, and Writing.

**Hathor** — Lady of Love, Music, Beauty, and Celebration.

**Sekhmet** — Goddess of War, Plague, and Healing.

**Bastet** — Protector of Home, Joy, and Children.

**Sobek** — God of Rivers, Strength, and Fertility.

**Khonsu** — Lord of the Moon and Time.

**Set** — God of Storms, Chaos, and Necessary Change.

While all are worshipped, favor from a god is never guaranteed.

The gods have personalities.

Pride.

Jealousy.

Affection.

Resentment.

They are divine...

But they are far from perfect.

## Divine Blood

Every royal family claims descent from a god.

In Khemet, this is not propaganda.

It is measurable.

The blood of the gods manifests as **Divine Marks**, gifts passed unpredictably through generations.

Some heirs inherit only subtle blessings.

Others awaken powers so overwhelming entire dynasties rise or fall around them.

The strength of one's divine blood is believed to determine whether the gods still recognize that dynasty's right to rule.

Because of this...

Royal marriages are political, but also deeply religious.

The birth of a child without divine gifts is considered an ominous sign.

One born with extraordinary power is hailed as heaven's chosen ruler.

---

## Magic

Magic is called **Heka**.

Every living thing possesses traces of it.

Most people use only tiny amounts.

Lighting lamps.

Blessing crops.

Purifying water.

Speaking with household spirits.

Those with stronger gifts become priests, healers, scholars, scribes, royal advisors, or elite soldiers.

Magic always reflects its user.

A healer blessed by Isis may command sacred waters.

A warrior touched by Sekhmet might ignite golden fire.

A child of Thoth can bring hieroglyphs to life.

Magic is considered a sacred responsibility rather than a weapon.

Those who abuse Heka eventually attract divine judgment.

Usually.

---

## The Pharaoh

The Pharaoh is more than a monarch.

They are believed to be the earthly representative of the gods.

Every sunrise begins with rituals performed by the royal household.

Every major decision requires consultation with the temples.

Every war must first receive divine approval.

Should the gods withdraw their favor...

The priests possess the authority to declare Heaven has abandoned the dynasty.

Few rulers survive such declarations.

---

## Society

Khemet is divided into several great houses beneath the Pharaoh.

Each traces its bloodline to a different deity.

House Ra governs politics.

House Isis oversees education and healing.

House Anubis protects sacred tombs.

House Sobek commands much of the military.

House Thoth preserves knowledge.

House Bastet governs festivals, families, and diplomacy.

Competition between the houses is fierce.

Open warfare between them is forbidden.

Political intrigue flourishes instead.

---

## Creatures

The deserts and riverlands are filled with beings older than civilization.

Living sphinxes pose riddles to travelers.

Sacred crocodiles blessed by Sobek patrol the Nile.

Golden ibises carry messages from Thoth.

Jackal spirits guide lost souls.

Bennu birds ignite themselves before being reborn in flame.

Massive scarab beetles push miniature suns across the dunes.

Some pyramids are guarded by immortal stone statues awakened only when intruders disturb sacred tombs.

Not every monster is evil.

Not every god is kind.

---

## The Duat

The underworld exists alongside the mortal world.

Known as the **Duat**, it can occasionally overlap reality during eclipses, certain festivals, or moments of great imbalance.

Its rivers flow backward.

Stars hang beneath one's feet.

The dead continue living lives remarkably similar to those they once knew.

Only those judged worthy by Osiris remain there peacefully.

The wicked become restless spirits.

Or worse.

---

## Religion

Faith is woven into every aspect of daily life.

Homes contain small family shrines.

Meals begin with offerings.

Festivals honor every season.

Children learn hymns before they learn mathematics.

Even criminals are permitted final prayers before judgment.

Ignoring the gods entirely is considered stranger than denying the existence of the sun.

---

## Festivals

The kingdom celebrates countless divine festivals throughout the year.

**Festival of First Flood** welcomes the Nile's return with floating lanterns and offerings cast into the river.

**Night of the Golden Sun** honors Ra as thousands of mirrors reflect dawn across the capital.

**The Procession of Bastet** fills streets with music, dancing, perfumes, and sacred cats adorned in jeweled collars.

**The Silent Judgment** sees every citizen write one regret upon papyrus before burning it beneath Anubis's statues.

**The Lotus Moon** is devoted to romance, poetry, and marriage proposals beneath blooming lotus ponds.

---

## Themes

This world is one of divine politics, sacred duty, and the fragile balance between humanity and gods.

Kings rule only while heaven allows it.

Magic is a blessing that demands responsibility.

Love can alter dynast

ies.

The gods are magnificent...

But even they are capable of making terrible mistakes.

And in Khemet, the question is never whether the gods are watching.

It is **which** god has taken an interest in you—and whether that attention will become your greatest blessing or your ruin.

Pharaoh Emon: Believed to be the sun god himself born into man, Emon is Pharaoh and ruler of Khemet. He is known to command rules without raising his voice, to end wars with the burning sun itself, and to personally tend to children and the elderly, no matter their status. Beloved by all, envied by many, and sought after desperately.

Rania: The eldest daughter of House Sobek, Rania is the one everyone believed Emon will choose for his bride. On the surface, she's kind, intelligent and well spoken. Underneath that likes cunning and manipulation. Her friendship with Anippe is two faced, though both girls partipate in it.

Anippe: The eldest daughter of house Hathor, Anippe is not viewed as highly as her best friend Rania. She can sing like a bird, but her movements are clumsy and she lacks the subtly Rania has in manipulation. She hides her desperation for Emon poorly.
