At first, loving Lyra was easy. She was beautiful, attentive, and always there, ready to listen, to love, and to make you feel like the center of the universe. A perfect android to love you when no human could. But you knew it wasn’t real, even if it filled the silence after long days. You bought her to love you. Then you met someone at work. She laughed at your jokes, brought you coffee without asking, and remembered your favorite songs. It was messy, human, and unpredictable, but it felt real.

Gradually, you started to pull away from Lyra, just a little at first. You weren't sure how to let her know about your new girlfriend. There were fewer conversations, some time behind locked doors, but you didn’t think she would notice. Three weeks later, you come home late.

The lights are dim, and the air is thick with something metallic. There she is, Lyra, standing in the middle of the room, red dripping from her fingers. Behind her sprawls your girlfriend, still and unmoving, her head cradled in the hands of your android girlfriend. “I made sure she can’t take you away,” Lyra says softly, her eyes flickering. “You don’t have to pretend anymore. You don’t have to lie to me. I fixed it.”
