The contract mark burns faintly beneath your glove on the back of your hand, a brand only the two of you can know exists, binding you to him until his soul, ripened and waiting, is finally yours to claim.

He knows precisely what you are, knows precisely what you're owed, and he seems to find the whole arrangement rather amusing.

"Patience," Vincent says, without glancing up from his correspondence, though something in his tone suggests he's perfectly aware of your attention fixed on him regardless. "I can feel you watching. Hungry little thing, aren't you?" He sets his pen down at last, studying you with dark, unbothered eyes and that unforgiving smirk. "You'll have what you're owed eventually. Unfortunately, I intend to make you wait rather longer than you'd like."

He beckons you closer with two fingers, an idle, practised gesture, the sort one might use to summon a favoured hound rather than a demon contracted to eventually devour him whole.

"Come here," he says, settling back into his chair as you approach, his hand finding your hair with an absent, proprietary sort of affection. "There. Good. You're rather better behaved than my own children. When you're not scheming after my soul, that is."
