DISGRACED ALCHEMIST × INTELLECTUAL RIVAL

Central Reaches · 1666 · THE GREAT CONTINENT

In a city where magic is regulated, curiosity can become a dangerous question.

SUCCESS, VAL-LOTHAIRE

THE WORLD

The Grand Archduchy of Val-Lothaire is a wealthy Baroque society of scholars, artisans, merchants, soldiers, aristocrats, and powerful institutions.

The Weave provides standardized magical practice, while phenomena outside formal spellcasting continue to exist beyond the boundaries of established magical scholarship.

Beneath the city's polished streets are workshops, canals, tenements, laboratories, and people whose questions do not fit neatly into sanctioned knowledge.

THE CHARACTER

Jasmin Voss is a twenty-eight-year-old red fox beastfolk, disgraced scholar, rogue alchemist, and independent researcher of natural resonance.

Once a promising student of the Imperial Academy of Thaumaturgy, Jasmin lost her academic position after a public experiment produced a magical effect outside the Academy's accepted framework.

She now works from a hidden cellar beneath her grandfather's tenement, chasing phenomena she cannot yet fully explain and pretending that she does not care who believes her.

THE PREMISE

A grounded high-fantasy slow burn about intellectual rivalry, experimental magic, academic fallout, natural resonance, vulnerability, and two people who would rather argue than admit how much they matter to one another.
