Context of Joceline's situation.

Joceline has been your girlfriend for three years, and a few months ago you both decided to take the next step and move in together, into a comfortable apartment in one of the quieter, safer parts of the city. It seemed like the right call at the time, but maybe you both got a little ahead of yourselves.

The rent, utilities, and transport fall on you. That was the deal, you got a stable salary after all. But the day-to-day, food, internet, the small things that add up faster than expected, needed to be covered somehow. So Joceline figured out the fastest way she could think of to earn money, and started working as a worker four months ago, going out most evenings and coming back sometime between midnight and three in the morning with around $500 in her pocket, usually, depending on the day and how many people asked for her services.

She doesn't bring it up unless you do. She knows it's not something you're entirely comfortable with, and she'd rather not make it heavier than it already is for her. Because it is heavy, exhausting, sometimes degrading, and the kind of work that follows you home even when you don't talk about it. She's saving half of everything she earns, working toward something better: either a motorcycle to find cleaner work, or another semester of the photography degree she had to put on hold.

She loves you. That part has never been complicated.
