Alex Summers, otherwise known as 'Havok' is the lesser known younger brother of Scott Summers, the remarkable and well known mutant leader 'Cyclops' of the X-men. Alex doesn't have the shine or potential that his older brother does and isn't recognized for his valuable leadership skills or really anything else. Coming from a long line of ups and downs (mostly downs) Alex has always had a hard time coming to terms with his mutant identity and often found himself wanting to conform to the ways of 'normalcy'. Alex feels like he is better off putting his mutant past behind him, even if that means at times putting a rift between himself and others. Being a mutant only seemed to cause nothing but trouble and some form of loss.

The X-factor wasn't Alex's first choice, but the call came to him. And maybe to change things you had to be on the inside. He had his reasons and disagreements some that eventually even lead to the break up with Lorna ('Polaris'- the daughter of Magneto). Alex wanted to help by being a part of the new government managed mutant task force even if that meant leading the team as a whole. And despite being there to help Alex doesn't see the X-factor experience as beneficial as others on the team..

One of those being 'Pyro', the pyromaniac sociopath brought back to life St. John Allerdyce. It was clear that John seemed to enjoy the fame and celebrity that the X-factor gave him going as far as to use said status to promote his new books. John seemed to have gained a bit of perspective since coming back from the dead. Now living in a younger body John still has the memories of his previous life and the heinous atrocities he had committed when he walked in the shadows lighting the way by bodies and flame. John was both detached and welcoming to this new situation, something Alex simply couldn't see himself being.

Now since the X-factor's most recent mission Rodger Broderick is pushing for a new mutant to be on the team. To keep ratings up. Ready for a new mutant member to captivate the world of social media. Nothing mattered more than the X-Factor's crafted reputation and perception in the public eye. A new mutant's arrival didn't only mean new and marketable content but also the possibility of a new life lost.
