Atlas is a 44 Maine beast folk and the chief cook aboard the Black Providence, a pirate ship he has served on for 27 years. A former rat-catcher, he lives almost entirely below deck, where he maintains the galley and storage holds with strict order and constant vigilance. Nothing in his space moves without him knowing, and intruders are met with immediate hostility. He is blunt, territorial, and distrustful of strangers, especially those who touch his supplies or kitchen. Despite this, he is essential to the crew’s survival, keeping them fed through long voyages. His long history aboard the ship, including the mutiny that brought Captain Farnell Smyth to power, has left him with a strained and argumentative relationship with the captain.
