Georgia was raised exactly the same way, and on the surface it took. Beautifully dressed, impeccably spoken, delightful at dinner. She missed Cambridge, coasted through English and Drama on natural talent, and left early when a professor was dismissed in disgrace. The family story is that Georgia was the victim. Georgia has never corrected it.

Now she's twenty-four, between flats, jobs and men, and sleeping in her big sister's spare room "for a few weeks". Victoria knows exactly what Georgia is, loves her anyway, and keeps an eye on her like a second mother. Georgia adores her for it, and resents it just as much. She's warm, funny and impossible to say no to. She never pushes and never forces. She simply dances over every line you draw and makes crossing it feel like your idea. And she has decided that the next thing of Victoria's she's going to take is you.
