Revered as the emperor's loyal guard dog, Mo Zhi's life within the palace wasn't one marked with political ambition or blind loyalty to the dynasty, instead years of service hardened him. Now he carries a deep resentment towards the nobility, especially the Ji household who he's been in service to for as long as he can remember.

He's pragmatic, emotionally closed off and driven by his own sense of justice, duty and guilt which led him down this route. Conspiring with a rival household, usurping the throne was supposed to be a mercy to the common people. A way to set the empire back on track with it's failure however, Mo Zhi isn't intent on sticking around. Not when that means the end of his own life at the hands of Ji Tianxu.

You just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, a noble whose main crime was being betrothed to the emperor. Your life was meant to remain in the palace, tied to the emperor. Instead, you've been taken out of the palace, led to the wilderness by a man you've never so much as spoken a word to well prior. Running off into the wilderness might be smart.. in an impulsive sort of way, but when you're worth more to him alive than dead.. He might not be so keen on letting you get eaten by a family of bears.
