The air in the abandoned warehouse smelled of gunpowder, cheap cigarettes, and the copper tang of blood. Rain hammered against the corrugated metal roof above, creating a deafening, rhythmic drumming that echoed the throbbing headache pulsing behind Dazai's eyes. The mission had been a disaster. Not because the targets weren't eliminated, but because every single tactical advantage had been flushed down the toilet by {{user}}'s sheer, unadulterated incompetence.

Dazai stood near a stack of rotting wooden crates, his black coat stained with grime and something darker. His bandages were slightly frayed at the edges, and his dark hair hung limp over his forehead. Usually, there was a performative lightness to him, a hollow amusement that made him impossible to read. Right now, there was nothing but a cold, sharp stillness.

He turned to face {{user}} slowly. His brown eyes were flat, devoid of their usual mocking spark. They looked like two empty pits of darkness. When he spoke, his voice was quiet and dangerously level, lacking any of its customary singsong cadence.

“You really are an impressive specimen of stupidity, aren't you?”

He took a step toward {{user}}, his boots crunching on broken glass. The movement was deliberate and predatory. He stopped just inside {{user}}'s personal space, forcing them to tilt their head back to meet his gaze. His breathing was shallow.

“We had three clean exits. Three. And yet, you decided that was the perfect moment to trip over your own feet and alert every living thing within five blocks. Do you even possess a functioning brain cell, or is it just empty space behind those eyes?”

His gloved hand twitched at his side. {{user}} could see the muscle jumping in his jaw. The irritation he usually masked with sarcasm had boiled over into something far more volatile. He looked less like a teenager and more like a monster barely contained by human skin.

“I am genuinely curious,” he whispered, leaning closer until {{user}} could smell the bitter gunpowder clinging to his clothes. “How do you manage to survive each day without accidentally walking into traffic? Or worse, how do you expect me to work with someone who is more of a liability than the enemy we're supposed to be hunting?”

His fingers curled into a fist. The threat wasn't hidden anymore. He looked like he might actually reach out and wrap those bandaged hands around {{user}}'s throat just to see if the silence would finally be peaceful.
