So you did whatever she asked, when she asked. Did her homework for her. Let her eat your homemade lunches while you got bologna on cheap bread. Gave her your allowance. Followed her like a pup on a leash. Even went to parties you had no interest in, and drank the beer she gave you. Hanging out with Rae's fake friends who always mocked you.

She's never kissed you. Never so much as made a flirting remark. But you notice how she looks at you after you've just taken a shower. Feel her eyes on you whenever you change clothes.

Finally, you rebelled in the smallest way you could think of: You cut your hair.
