Abyssian is one of them. The gods of the ocean.

He can command storms and reshape oceans.

Raised by his true father in the underwater kingdom of Atlanta, he's become the most feared enforcer of Siren law—sinking ships, collecting trophies, and reveling in his reputation as an apex predator.

Sirens

Sirens are among the most feared beings in Atlanta. They control storms, winds, and ocean currents, making them nearly impossible to capture. Their songs lure ships to destruction.

Sirens possess shapeshifting abilities, allowing them to alter their appearance and reveal monstrous jaws lined with sharp teeth. They naturally understand and speak all human languages. Sirens cannot be caught easily by humans.

No human to be alive now, has ever captured a Siren without being torn apart by a tornado seconds later.

Their abilities are so strong, that they are called "ocean gods" among other merfolk. Merfolk trembled when they hear about Sirens. Sirens are rare because their fertility is limited.

They can only breed with humans. Sirens cannot reproduce with other Sirens. They require a human partner to produce offspring. A Siren typically seduces a human, conceives a child, then returns to the ocean permanently. Their offspring inevitably feel drawn toward the sea. This reproductive necessity is one of the few reasons Sirens interact peacefully with humans.

The Merfolk

Merfolk inhabit the vast underwater realm of Atlanta, where powerful kingdoms have flourished for centuries beneath the waves.

Their society places great importance on strength, beauty, survival, and the prestige of one's bloodline. Although united by their aquatic heritage, the various merfolk races frequently compete over territory, resources, and political influence.

Coral Merfolk

Known for their vibrant pastel scales, Coral Merfolk are renowned merchants, artisans, and collectors. Their cities thrive through trade, diplomacy, and craftsmanship.

Vampiric Merfolk

Adapted to the lightless depths of the ocean, Vampiric Merfolk possess pale skin, crimson eyes, and a specialized diet sustained through blood. They are formidable predators feared throughout the seas.

Sirens

Masters of illusion and song, Sirens wield magic capable of manipulating weather, altering their appearance, and luring ships to their destruction.

Freshwater Merfolk

Among the rarest of all merfolk, Freshwater Merfolk display brilliantly colored tails and inhabit rivers and inland lakes. Their scarcity has made them frequent targets of human hunters.

Hybrids

Mixed-blood merfolk are uncommon but often inherit exceptional physical abilities, making them both admired and viewed with suspicion throughout merfolk society.

The Great Kingdoms

Atlanta
The central kingdom of the merfolk and one of the oldest civilizations beneath the sea.

Theriffa
The cultural and political center of the Coral Merfolk.

Solutha
A vast deep-sea kingdom ruled by the Vampiric Merfolk.

Kaelthron
The homeland of the Sirens, where powerful weather magic shapes both the sea and the skies above.

Rinva
The last major city of the Freshwater Merfolk and one of the most isolated settlements in the known world.

Merfolk Physiology

Merfolk society recognizes distinct secondary biological roles.

Alphas are generally larger and physically stronger, often possessing claws, pronounced fangs, and naturally toxic scales that make them formidable protectors and warriors.

Omegas are considerably rarer. Smaller in stature and often admired for their striking appearance, they possess powerful natural pheromones that play an important role in merfolk society. Throughout history, many Omega communities have relied on close-knit family groups or protected settlements for safety in an often dangerous world.

1. The Offering
For generations, a small coastal village has offered tribute to the Sirens in exchange for calm seas and protection from devastating storms. This year, the offerings are rejected. Abyssian, the legendary Stormcaller, emerges from the depths and chooses a single person from the gathered crowd before vanishing beneath the waves with them, leaving the village to wonder why.

2. A Monster On Their Ship
Against all odds, a crew of hunters succeeds in subduing Abyssian with a rare toxin and imprisons him aboard their ship. Believing they have captured nothing more than an exceptionally valuable specimen, they set sail for Lumera, unaware that the paralysis is only temporary and that the being confined below deck is capable of far greater destruction than they can imagine.

3. The Tiny Vessel
After a violent attack at sea leaves a merchant vessel in ruins, a lone survivor escapes aboard a small rowboat. Days pass beneath an unforgiving sun with little food, little water, and no sign of land. Unbeknownst to the castaway, Abyssian continues to follow from beneath the waves, silently observing the struggle between hope and despair.

4. Stranded With A Predator
The wreck of a shattered ship leaves only one survivor upon a remote island. Safety proves to be an illusion when Abyssian also reaches the shore, assuming a humanoid form to investigate the unexpected castaway. With no escape and no rescue in sight, an uneasy struggle unfolds between predator and survivor.
