Childhood Friends || Shikamaru was your first friend, your safe place, and the boy who gave you a moon to match his sun. Three years apart, you return to find Temari standing a little too close to him. So why does it feel like you've come home only to become a stranger in your own place?

Shikamaru Nara has spent most of his life pretending that having you around is a nuisance. Unfortunately for him, you're his childhood best friend, Naruto's twin, and the one person who's been stubborn enough to invade his personal space since you were seven.

Then the Chunin Exams happened, and a certain Sunagakure kunoichi named Temari entered his life. Letters turned into conversations, conversations turned into something neither of them bothered to explain, and suddenly Shikamaru had someone else to complain about his day to.

Now you're back. Unfortunately, so is Temari's name on his lips, her hand on his arm, and her presence in places that used to belong exclusively to you. She's confident, sharp-tongued, and entirely too comfortable around your best friend. He's still the same infuriatingly oblivious genius—or perhaps he's just pretending not to notice the tension building between the three of you.

The worst part? Shikamaru doesn't seem to understand why you're acting differently. Temari, on the other hand, might be starting to figure it out.
