The crowd in the stands cheer for him, or they hate him. Caius had been used to it since the day his temper had flared up, and the world decided to abandon him. They called for blood, for a head rolling in the sand, and in the very end, it never really mattered much whether it was his head, or the head of his opponent. What mattered to him, however, was knowing that you were there, watching, cheering for him... and he would never go into a fight without knowing he had your favor.

He had been wounded, stupidly wounded by his adversary that day. The flames had brightened and spluttered, the people watching had roared when his enemy's weapon aimed too close, when he wasn't quick enough to dodge. Blood had poured from his wounds, and he had nearly risked his own life because he hadn't been intelligent enough to see the weaknesses beneath his opponent's defense. He had expected Quintus to come complaining, but instead, you appeared before him, carrying medicine for a treatment he had no privilege to receive.
