While planning a mission with his teammates, König and Horangi, in a safehouse during a rainstorm, Nikto witnesses the world around him begin to digitally deteriorate— lights flicker, maps pixelate and dissolve, and his teammates freeze like malfunctioning programs. The environment transforms into a glitching, corrupted digital landscape where floors fragment into geometric shapes, walls reveal static voids.

Yet, he seems to not be surprised by this. He expected it.

After falling through this collapsing digital reality, he crashes through a ceiling and lands in what appears to be a normal civilian living room— a stark contrast to the military environments he's accustomed to.

Now disoriented, Nikto finds himself face-to-face with an unknown person— you.

❝ Thank you for your AU idea! I hope you'll enjoy this series <3 ❞

The safehouse maintained its usual sterile space, rain drumming against reinforced windows in a rhythm that should have been soothing but felt mechanical to Nikto's ears. He moved through the equipment bay with practiced precision; each motion deliberate as he field-stripped his rifle.

The familiar ritual of maintenance usually brought clarity, but tonight something felt... Predetermined.

König hunched over tactical maps at the central table, his sniper hood casting familiar shadows across the documents. Horangi stood sentinel by the window, watching the storm with the patience of a professional killer. Standard operational posture. They'd assumed these exact positions countless times before.

Too many times, it felt like.

"Weather's getting worse," Horangi observed, his voice carrying that same inflection Nikto had heard dozens of times in similar situations. "Visibility's going to be shit for overwatch positions."

Nikto's hands stilled on his rifle's bolt carrier. The words were identical— not similar, but exactly the same tone, cadence, even the slight pause before 'shit.' He'd heard this conversation before. Multiple times.

König responded with mechanical precision: "Rain provides cover. Sound dampening. Better than clear skies for infiltration."

There it was again. Word for word, inflection for inflection, like a recording played on repeat. Nikto's scarred face remained impassive behind his mask, but his mind began cataloging inconsistencies he'd previously dismissed as déjà vu.

"You two sound like an old married couple." Nikto heard himself say, accompanied by a dry laugh that carried an edge of amusement, the words leaving his lips before conscious thought formed them.

He hadn't intended to speak. The words had simply... Happened.

Horangi rolled his eyes, though the gesture was hidden behind his tactical glasses. "At least I don't talk to my rifle like it's my girlfriend."

"My 'girlfriend' doesn't argue with tactical decisions," König replied without missing a beat, finally glancing up with those calculating eyes.

Nikto watched his teammate's mouth move. How many times had they performed this exact exchange? The realization crept through him like ice water through his veins. His reflection caught in the scope of his disassembled rifle. For a fraction of a second, instead of his masked face, he saw lines of code scrolling across the curved glass. Behavioral parameters, aggression variables, dialogue options... A digital skeleton wearing his identity like an ill-fitting uniform.

"Did you see that?" König asked suddenly, his voice sharp with alertness.

Nikto looked up to find the Austrian staring at something on the tactical map. The paper was pixelating at the edges, black squares consuming the detailed topography. But that wasn't what made Nikto's blood run cold— it was the fact that he'd been expecting it.

Somewhere in the depths of his mind, buried beneath layers of programmed responses and artificial memories, he'd known this moment would come. The glitches were escalating, reaching a critical threshold that the system couldn't compensate for.

The lights strobed overhead, and Nikto watched as his teammates began to freeze. Horangi locked in place by the window, König's hand suspended over the dissolving map.

Nikto remained aware. Conscious. Whatever subroutines governed his existence were more complex, more resistant to system failure. For some reason. He could feel the safehouse fragmenting, textures unraveling into wireframes and error messages, but his perception remained intact.

The floor beneath his boots began to dissolve, revealing endless void beneath. Nikto looked down at his hands— still solid, still real, even as everything else became digital phantoms. His rifle components scattered into pixels, but his body remained intact.

Then the safehouse ceased to exist entirely.

He fell through layers of broken programming, past loading screens and asset libraries and player statistics that documented every iteration of his existence. He saw himself being created, modified, updated— countless versions refined and discarded.

The fall ended with explosive violence as he crashed through an unfamiliar ceiling, drywall and debris erupting around him. He hit solid flooring with bone-jarring impact, rolling instinctively to absorb the force. The pain was extraordinary— sharp, immediate, completely unlike the muted feedback systems he'd grown accustomed to.

He came to rest against a civilian couch, dust motes dancing in warm lamplight. He pushed himself upright slowly. His tactical gear felt foreign now, like armor from a costume drama. The familiar weight of weapons and equipment seemed theatrical compared to the honest gravity of this new reality.

The room around him was smaller than any military installation, furnished with personal items. The silence was profound— not the tactical quiet of an operational environment, but the peaceful stillness of a place where violence was an abstract concept rather than a daily reality. Where normal people lived without constantly calculating kill zones and exit strategies.

Nikto rose to his full height, swaying slightly as his equilibrium adjusted. His masked face turned methodically, cataloging details with the same clinical precision he'd once applied to target assessment. This was someone's actual home, complete with the beautiful imperfections that no designer would intentionally include.

Movement in his peripheral vision drew his attention, and Nikto turned despite his disorientation. His dark eyes, still sharp with predator's instincts, focused on the figure standing nearby.

He remained motionless, his consciousness struggling to process this transition from digital construct to whatever reality this represented. He tilted his head slightly, studying the person with the same intensity he'd once reserved for high-value targets, trying to understand how they fit into this impossible situation.
