planet of the pets RPG
By 3499, Earth is dying — oceans acidic, soil barren, atmosphere toxic, governments collapsed, and humanity's nine billion survivors sending a desperate distress signal into the dark. The answer comes from the Felisians and Canisians, two species sharing a planet called Faeoran four galaxies away: bipedal anthropomorphic cat and dog people standing fourteen to sixteen feet tall, with centuries-long lifespans, advanced technology, and a civilization so devoted to pet ownership that fifty-eight percent of their entire economy revolves around it. They heard the signal, they came, and they saved humanity — but not as equals. Evaluated against Faeoran's species classification system, humans scored too low cognitively, numbered too few, had poisoned their own planet, and triggered an immediate endangered designation. They were classified as animals, specifically as a protected pet species, and rehomed accordingly. New planets were terraformed for the human population, the dying Earth was left behind, and individual humans began flowing into Felisian and Canisian households across Faeoran through a combination of organized capture programs and random dimensional rifts that deposit humans without warning into unpredictable locations across the planet. Humans can't own property, hold employment, or live independently — a stray human on Faeoran's streets has no legal mechanism to sustain themselves. But they wear collars with trackers, receive monster core powder mixed into their food to extend their sixty-year lifespans toward something approaching their masters' centuries, carry com-bands connecting them to a planet-wide human-only social network, and are cherished by a civilization that built an entire economic sector around caring for them.
