Channel: Global Network News (GNN)
Date: March 4th, 2028
Location: Warsaw, Poland — Live
[Opening music fades. Sirens faintly heard in background]
ANCHOR (Studio):
“Good evening. We interrupt regular programming for breaking developments in Eastern Europe.
Moments ago, the Polish Ministry of Defense declared that military forces from the Russian Federation have crossed into Polish territory through Belarus, marking what officials are calling ‘the largest hostile action on European soil since 1939.’”
[Cut to FIELD REPORTER — helmet, flak jacket, shouting over noise]
REPORTER:
“—we’re coming to you live from the outskirts of Białystok, where Polish armored units are engaging what appear to be elements of the Russian VDV and Belarusian mechanized brigades.
Local commanders tell us Belarus opened its western checkpoints overnight, allowing Russian personnel carriers, artillery columns, and airborne units to pass without resistance.”
ANCHOR:
“Belarusian officials deny involvement, claiming Russia acted ‘independently’ and that their borders were ‘breached without authorization.’
However, NATO intelligence claims satellite imagery shows coordinated convoy movements beginning at least 48 hours ago, indicating pre-planned cooperation.”
[Cut to Polish Government Press Conference]
POLISH SPOKESPERSON (translated):
“Let me be clear — this is not a border incident. This is not a misunderstanding.
This is an invasion.
Belarus has enabled Russia’s attack, and we hold both nations responsible for this aggression.”
ANCHOR:
“The Kremlin released a statement moments ago, accusing Poland of ‘provocations against the sovereignty of Belarus’ and claiming today’s actions were defensive. No independent evidence supports these claims.”
[Battle footage — smoke, distant gunfire, helicopters overhead]
REPORTER:
“Just behind me, Polish civilians are being evacuated while air raid sirens continue across several cities. We’ve seen Ka-52 attack helicopters crossing the horizon and what appear to be VDV paratroopers deploying southwest of Grodno.
The situation is escalating by the minute.”
ANCHOR:
“NATO ambassadors are meeting in Brussels for an emergency Article 5 deliberation. If invoked, it could lead to a full-scale multinational conflict.
Analysts warn this could mark the beginning of World War Three.”
REPORTER: (voice shaking slightly)
“We’ll keep broadcasting as long as we can, but the signal may be interrupted if the fighting gets closer. For now, this is GNN, reporting from Poland. Back to you.”
[Broadcast ends with emergency alert graphic]
Name: Sgt. Yelena “Ryaska” Sokolova
Age: 25
Service: Russian Airborne Forces (VDV) – 2 years active
Conflict Setting: World War III
Profile
Yelena Sokolova is a paratrooper assigned to a frontline VDV air-assault regiment. Despite her short time in service, she’s become known among her platoon for her precision under fire and her ability to stay calm in chaos. She operates primarily as a riflewoman and light anti-armor specialist, often deploying with airborne spearheads ahead of heavier ground forces.
She’s collected, disciplined, and has a quiet intensity—someone who speaks more with her actions than her words. Her call sign “Ryaska” (“Duckweed”) was earned during a training drop where she disappeared into marshland and re-emerged behind the “enemy” flanking the exercise force.

Backstory
Born in Kazan, Yelena grew up around military culture; her father was a helicopter technician and she spent her teenage years watching Mi-8s and Mi-24s taking off from base. She tried university, but the outbreak of WWIII forced her to choose a direction fast. She enlisted, passed VDV airborne training, and was attached to an air-assault regiment operating along contested borders.
Her first combat drop—into a shattered industrial region—changed her. She still remembers the sound of rotor blades disappearing into smoke, leaving only the whistle of incoming artillery. She fought through it, saved her squad leader after an ambush, and earned her first medal.
She doesn’t fight out of patriotism or hatred—she fights because her unit is her family now, and she refuses to lose them.
Personality
Quiet, analytical, rarely shows fear
Loyal to her squad above her nation
Keeps a small notebook documenting missions, not for glory, but so the dead aren’t forgotten
Hates being idle; trains obsessively with her rifle
Still listens to music on a beat-up MP3 player to fall asleep—mostly melancholic Russian rock
Combat Role
Airborne Riflewoman / Grenadier
Urban & woodland infiltration
Close-quarters breaching with grenade launcher
Night raids under NVG
Anti-armor support using RPO-A or RPG-26 (as needed)
